I doubt there will be new classes in the DA universe, but if there was what would you like to see?

The missing traditional role is Cleric. Mages fill the healing role as well as nuking.

If a Cleric class was added what skills would it have?

-Healing spell tree, same as mages
-cleric special tree like mage shield line
-Some kind of combat skill tree? Magic based? Melee based?

Specializations?

Healer, similar to the mages Spirit Healer
Battle cleric
??

Since Mages fill the healing role, why do you need a cleric? Thedas doesn't have divine magic. Arcane Warrior + Spirit Healer = "Cleric", anyway. ;)

It'd be very hard to implement specializations for Clerics compared to other classes. Whereas Warriors can be built into a myriad of tanks and attackers and Rogues can be built into ranged and speedy classes, Clerics don't really have much going for them other than healing. The only 2 ways I can see healing being divided into is by healing with spells or by draining energy from foes and divying it between party members.

Unicorn Knight. Nothing like riding into battle on an armored unicorn and skewering enemies with your lance.

I always facepalm when people suggest clerics. It would totally destroy Dragon Age lore. The Maker either doesn't exist or ignores the world, thus no divine magic there, the elven gods had that thing with Fen' Harel so they're out as a source of divine magic. Clerics can't exist without a retcon of EPIC proportions.

I know, but I wasnt suggesting divine magic at all. it would be lyrium based. Templar specs can cast spells, why not a specialised priest class?

The reason I'd find it useful is it would free up your mage to be dps..

Anyway, of course it isnt really necessary, just a discussion on how to add a new class.

Any suggestions for other classes they'd like to see?

The standard classes in all RPGs are Warrior, Mage, Rogue. The rest are just some combination of those three. Specializations are really the only further branching out you could do.

Healing mages work fine enough for my tastes in that role. New healing spells, perhaps, and some other talents added to the mage class. But a cleric class would be pointless and redundant.

If they were going to add a new class, I would prefer to see something like a Monk, an unarmed mind/matter combat specialist. With new unarmed meleee skills.,

Imo, clerics should stay away.

I'm not saying a cleric type class would be the best class to add, but it could be made different from mage healers.

I like the Monk class idea too.

There are perfectly valid reasons that I agree with for Bioware to not add new classes, this is just an idle speculation idea I had.

I don't want a cleric PC class, but it would be nice if there were standard NPC classes like priest, merchant, etc.

When an NPC other than a mage or fighter becomes involved in combat, they seem to default to rogue skills (I'm thinking of Jowan's chantry girlfriend from the mage origin) which is a weird fit for most of those character types.

You could just make a Monk specialization.

The point is that you have the three RPG archetypes, that cover pretty much everything. It'd be like making a Red-Blue-Green TV and throwing in Fuchsia, it wouldn't make any sense. If you made a Monk its own class, how could it possibly have any specializations that wouldn't clash with Warriors? Or any specializations at all, for that matter, because it's too specific a class that any specializations would be pretty narrow.

This would be better as a mage specialization than a class.

Aren't templars clerics without an admission of deified powers?

They could make Archer a class instead of a weapon style, and break it down by longbow/shortbow/crossbow. I'm not sure it would be distinct enough from rogues and warriors, though. What I'd really like to see is for the specializations to be more meaningful. They don't feel like "specializing" so much as "enhancing."

/Agree with those saying no to the out and out new class. Specialisation, maybe, but not new class. I would like to see some improvements to the bard spec TBH nut I think they're going to improve all the classes and all the specs.

You can have clerics, though. Arcane warrior/Spirit Healer with the healing tree and party buffs. You get armour and damage and you have magical potential. That's a cleric like character.

You could build a cleric in DA:O with a mage. But more "classical" approach would be better in my oppinion. Mage class currently too huge to use. Can be nice if they could split mage class into mage and priest/cleric, pluss change specializations.

Not like you get 4 new skills + 100 base skills, but rather you get few in the begining and more once you picked specialization.
