The protagonist in genre fiction and CRPGs both is often some sort of "chosen one". However, I recall it being a conscious decision on the part of the DAO team not to make DAO's PC any sort of chosen one. In fact, that's partly why the Human Commoner origin was scrapped - it was working out as a chosen one plot, and you guys didn't want to do one of those.
I really liked that DAO avoided the chosen one angle.
Will DA2 continue this, or is Hawke somehow special in a way of the writers' design, thus making him the proverbial "Chosen One"?

Unless you wish to extend the definition of a "Chosen One" to someone who has a destiny (you do know right from the beginning of the game, after all, that your character is destined to become someone significant), then no... there is no "Chosen One" scenario here.
