So here are some more pics from SC2, this is the third mission on Hard ( was redoing after finishing it on Brutal for one achievement ).

That big ship, that's the Hyperion.

"Hyperion" is such a cool name, that I always end up naming my first cap ship in Sins "Hyperion". One more reason to like Arcturus I guess, he named the ship.

He tries to control to the press to make it seem like Raynor is a criminal, and yet a reporter ( naive woman ) is actually saying the truth whiles the News Anchor is trying to do a smear job.

"Killing woman and children." stuff like that when it was the Dominion troops who did that.

Naturally, Mengsk is a master propagandist and he knows the power of the media. It would have been quite surprising if he didn't do that.

I know. I would do the same thing.

But I would have the sense of mind to not send a naive woman as the reporter on the ground.

News Anchor: I assume civilian casualties where high thanks to Raynor.

Reporter: Not at all, only casualties came from overzealous Dominion Security For- ( get's cut )

News Anchor: You heard it folks, Jim Raynor, killing women and children.

Ha, is it that unsubtle? I hope SC2 is keeping a dark tone like the first game, because taht segment sounds almost comedic.

The news segments are so, but I have only seen 2 of them ( not including cinematic news ), but everything else is pretty serious.

The game starts with Raynor drinking in a Bar while listening to the news, where a reporter asks Arcturus why he is spending trillions to hunt down Raynor. His depression over the loss of Kerrigan is also shown.

I think Raynor is the best developed character in the series, after which is Arcturus.

Raynor is a good man, who is willing to do whatever it takes to save lives. However while he is an idealist at heart, he also knows fully well the concepts of Ruthlessness and Pragmatism.

The "Leviathan" is ten times better :wizard:

Yea I like Raynor. Hopefully he will have a better sense of priority and consider siding with the Dominion against the zerg. To be fair to him though, I also hope Mengsk would be willing to do the same. Valerian seems like he is willing.

What I like the most about Raynor is his relationship with the Protoss.

I wonder, is Zeratul still alive? I seem to recall he survived because Kerrigan spared him after he killed the Matriarch. Really, I think Zeratul is Raynor's last liaison with the Protoss.

He is still alive, yes.

Though Artanis was not that close to Raynor (compared to Fenix), I would think he still sees him as a potential ally at least.

Dwarf content!  Yay!

This was the first thing that popped into my head when the dwarf competition was announced.  It's not what I'll enter, though, on account of it being weird and short and maybe a leeeetle too full of itself.  (Like Joyce!  Except for the short part.)

Question to the Smith Caste in this thread.

Since Mad Dworkin was using lyrium sand to make explosives, d'you suppose that raw lyrium is combustible?  Or is lyrium like a catalyst?

I think that catalyst is most likely.

...so it's referred to as an ore, is animated like a vein of pure metal, has 'vapors' that Dagna can study and now explodes? *suspects lyrium is the DAO version of the modified tachyon burst*

Magnesium metal burns, so that's not impossible, but I'd be very tempted to go with *waves hands* it's magic. Just because lyrium clearly is magical, and trying to mix magic and science usually goes badly unless a scientist was involved in developing the magical system. (And even then, it's not a guarantee.)

So what you're saying is, "it burns if you want it to."  I can work with that.  LOL

How exactly do you think those conveniently placed lyrium veins in the game square with reality?  If raw lyrium is toxic, isn't that raw lyrium and shouldn't sniffing that stuff be fatal rather than healing?

Well, you see it works like this. The humans can approach the raw lyrium *OMG! Look out! It's an obvious distraction! Duck!* so you see, as long as you have enough duct tape and blue coated wire, everything works out.

We had a long and involved discussion of this in Tellevero's status update... :)

It depends on whether or not you believe that natural lyrium deposits are an ore or a 'native metal.'  Many metals occur as compounds (ores); the ore is mined and refined and you get the metal.

Copper is a metal that is often found as just plain (or 'native') copper.  No refining needed, it's a lump of pure copper.

So if the natural lyrium deposits are an ore, they might be safe(ish) to handle.  (So, smugglers would be trading in nuggest of lyrium ore, not pure lyrium.)  Refined (pure) lyrium would then be toxic and would have to be safely alloyed with a metal (e.g., in a sword or armor) or compounded with... whatever... in a lyrium potion.  (This might explain why lyrium veins are blue and lyrium potions are blue, but lyrium powder is shown as pink.  Pink = poison, blue = dangerous and addictive but not outright lethal).

Lore still goes on and on about how dangerous lyrium mining is, so I'd add that the ore is only safer than pure lyrium, but not actually safe.  The lyrium-addled smith in Orzammar may have been talking about ore rather than refined lyrium (I don't have his dialgoue in front of me, so this may not tally.)

So lyrium is like some types of plants?

Where you can eat the roots, or leaves for their medicinal properties, but if you cook out some of the liquid from the stem it can be turned into a poison?
