But she, as an alliance officer, should know that Hanar, Elcor, Turians, Volus, Asari and Salarians are sentient beings and not animals.

Yes, so it's likely she's referring to other species. Because as you say, an alliance officer should be capable of telling these few from animals.

If I was an alien whose civilisation has diplomatic contact with Earth and has an embassy, I think I should know that this dog is an animal and not a sentient being.

Why, is it obligatory to study what pets other cultures have, simply because we have contact with them? Not everyone is interested in aliens to such degree. In addition, space is frickin' huge and so is the number of alien species. What are the odds you plain won't be able to learn of them all? It's not like your average human is that familiar with animals of their own planet, and universe is literally infinitely larger than that.

Well, you don't really need to be familiar with the animals, you just have to be familiar with what a human or whatever [insert alien species here] looks and feels like. Ashley is a bit narrow-minded when it comes to aliens and even says something along the lines of: "You can't really ever think of aliens as you would of humans. If you're attacked by a bear, you obviously let your dog charge in and die while you make your escape, that's just human nature."

And to stay on topic, Faren Broska assists.

Yeah, she makes a point that's how she thinks the aliens perceive humans though, not the other way around -- an useful dog that can be used to tackle that dangerous bear, but will be put down if it turns on its master. And frankly, given track record of the aliens in ME she isn't far off. Krogan uplifting and the fallout of it, anyone?

That's not what I meant. If my civilisation has diplomatic relations with Earth and if I am a military officer that should have been informed, I think I would be able to distinguish humans from dogs.

Mind you, I don't take Ashley's comment seriously. Even us humans when we experience another human culture that we might find strange, chances are we are going to say something somewhat insulting. So that's not a problem for me and I dislike how people always say that shley is a) religious zealot (?) and B) a racist.

this topic is making me LOL, not gonna lie.

Alien lifeform in scifi/fantasy genres are always going to be humanoid based, or scraped from the recesses of human inagination. Until the MY MIND IT IS BLOWN discoveries/images of the size of other suns, galaxies and planets billions and billions of light years away comes up with something living, we have no clue.

Other then what is in our ~~~~*~imagination~~ of course.

Exemplified by that you can have sex with almost all of them. Who knew that a penis and a vagina was such an unbeatable concept?

She is definitely not a zealot, but I did find her somewhat racist.

Having every sentient race being able to have sex with each other is a pet peeve of mine.

At least they can't all have kids in ME. *hopes that Qunari can't have kids with any other race*

I'm mostly disappointed there isn't Asari Mind Herpes, after all.

but that said, we don't exactly know what that "having sex with aliens" involve in ME. I mean... heck you're human, you have the buttons on the outside so they can get you off if they try. But it doesn't mean that counts as "sex" for them.

Eh, if I was in the Alliance, I would ban Human Asari reproduction, as the child will always be an Asari.

That will be part of elf appearance redesign for DA2. "Ah but you've never looked close inside their mouth, did you? Well, surprise!"

IN regards to Ashley lines about "aliens and animals" its bugged, and was only supposed to trigger around the keepers who do look like giant insects.

However yes the whole "I dont trust Aliens, but wont work for Cerberus thing is easier to clean up.

She agrees with their motives, to make humanity strong, but she does not agree with their methods which is fine to me.

Besides now with Anderson back in the saddle and kicking butt I found my next squadmate.

Why you hate alien sex, Uhl?
It's love that makes the universe go around.  Image IPB

And if the redesigned elves have mandibles, the redesigned dwarve better get bearded ladies or something.

At least Garrus has to do research into how to manage to sleep with you without one of you dying.

The idea of having sex with another species really creeps me out. I mean, IRL what other non-human species could you sleep with without it being beastiality? Some animals are very human-like like the aliens in ME (more so in that case, I'd think) or the other species in DA but it's still strongly discouraged. I suppose the sentience of those other races would make it not considered beastiality in the games but it still bothers me. A lot. Image IPB

It's considered bestiality mostly because it is hard to make an animal show consent. It's considered as cruelty towards them. Even though I've had dogs trying to rape my leg walking down the street, so it couldn't be that hard if you actually tried. I wonder which is worse, screwing an animal or having an animal screw you...

*walks away pondering*
