If anything, I would see Gorim with Erlina...weird I know but both are in about the same situation.

...same situation? She is Anora's right hand elf in the court and Gorim is a dwarf with defunct legs.

I am really interested in how it's possible for all that magic in Ferelden to not be able to heal some crippled legs. Seriously, he's been reinstated, he should have the funds he needs for a visit to the Circle of Magi. (Gorim that is, provided PC is DN)

Yeah, but magic doesn't work on dwarves. I assume that means healing magic as well.

Might be a dwarven thing. Magic resistance and all that jazz.

Dagna/Gorim doesn't sound wrong to me, but it doesn't sound especially right.  Although maybe if he was the sensible political one who kept her from totally destroying human/dwarf relations with her discoveries?

Weirdly, I can see Dagna/Lord Helmi (they're both idiosyncratic thinkers, forward-looking and fascinated with human society) or for some reason, Dagna/Lilly (if Lilly weren't at Aeonar).  Probably because Lilly seems bright but steady - she'd be able to keep up with Dags intellectually but would also ground her the same way Gorim might.

(There's a boon I wish mage!Warden could request - a pardon for Lilly. :( )

In-game, dwarves only resisted hostile magic, unless i don't remember things right. Probably had something to do with the will, since magic=willing things into being. So, if say, a healing spell is NOT against a dwarf's will, it should work....

Right?

Ogren also has talks with Morrigan about him being immune to her magic. So I think that lore-wise dwarves are a lot more magic resistant than in combat. Making them resist healing spells would only cause frustration when playing, since the other races have other benefits to make up for it.

Well, that's pretty easily decided. Just load up one of your dwarves, get in a fight and see if Wynne/Morrigan can heal you. If not, then dwarves are resistant to healing magic.

However, I noticed that dwarves can't use the lyrium that grows in the Fade and near the Anvil, but Branka can. Is that just a design oversight or did something happen to Branka to make her able to use lyrium?

Wynne can heal dwarves. As for Branka, she is a Paragon, after all. Being a mad genius she probably figured out a way to use lyrium.

Poor Gorim, being stuck with that voice. That would be a cruel and unusual punishment.

FINE DWARVEN CRAFTS competition!

Posted Image

It’s competition time. To take part, just draw/write/crochet/code/bake something pertaining to, and/or containing dwarves from Dragon Age as your entry. Simple as that!

It could be about Bhelen‘s political machinations, a How To guide at how to do the dwarva fist bump, Sigrun pick pocketing Anders, your Brosca, Aeducan or your Kader. It could be about your love for Lord Helmi or what you think Dagna‘s time at the Tower is like. The theme is “dwarves,” so just go with it.

There’s no limit to how you want to express this, it‘s not just about art... It could be through song, delicious baked goods, fan fiction, costuming, a Machinima, a mod for the game, an attempt at recreating Oghren’s fine microbrew…

Whatever it is you can think of, we want to see it!

First Prize
: Artwork by Aimo and Soignee of your character of choice (note, doesn’t have to be a dwarf.). Since Soignee likes to write also, you can have a short story if you prefer this instead of a painting by her.

Runner Up Prizes (x 2): Sketches by Aimo and Soignee.

THE JUDGES:

Aimo, sometimes answering to the moniker Irma Ahmed, fell head over heels in love with Dwarves courtesy of DA:O in 2009 through her Lady Aeducan playthrough. When she's not busy fanart-ing the DA 'Verse and juggling six other origins, she works as a freelance illustrator, mainly drawing Star Wars Jedi, Marvel spandex superheroes, and pin-up girls for official trading card sets.

Sian_Shoe, also known as Soignee, has both been writing and drawing about Missa Brosca in the DA universe since 2009 and possibly will not shut up about it. When she is not obsessing about dwarves or getting yelled at by her Papillion for not recycling properly, she designs graphics, textiles and fabric for the fashion industry.

Herr Uhl is a lumberjack and that’s okay, hailing for the depths of the Swedish wilderness. Terrified eye witnesses report that he is about the same height as a human male, with red hair and unnaturally pale skin. When not getting strangely aroused by dwarf porn and studying molecular biology at college, his hobbies include insomnia and creeping people out on the bus.

THE RULES.

1) All pieces of work have to be produced by you, no stealing!
2) Stories have a 7000 word cut off limit.
3) Please try to produce something you haven‘t shown the public before, so no entering a story that’s been on FF.net for three months now. We want to see FRESH! NEW! THINGS!
4) If you are baking cookies/making a sculpture out of toothpicks/costuming, please take photos in bright, well lit areas of your work so we can see all the details.
5) ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.

Closing time for last entry is Friday the 27th of August 2010, midnight GMT.

Post your entries at the Livejournal community [here] or at our Deviant Art group!

Good luck, HAVE FUN and here’s to all the entries we shall see!

I will probably enter despite having no idea how to use Live Journal and my contest issues. I know things are just for fun but being told that other people's things are better than yours is never fun.

Do you REALLY want me to produce a new video from scratch? It's not that I can't it's just that I would demolish the competition lol.

So, how I sign up?

Oh, excellent!

Aaaand I see that my bardic competition reflexes are still working.  "I know!  Let me do something new! different! better! than what I've done before!"

This is why I lose bardic competitions. :)
"Hey, maybe you should do something old! tested! that you're good at! instead." Have to relearn it every time. :wizard:

I just thought about a very gruesome short story about a certain [distasteful dwarf] being tortured to death by a [not distasteful dwarf] in a very graphically descriptive manner. Does that qualify as an entry?

I probably won't enter unless i decide to make a drawing myself (I've been told I'm not too shabby). As for written fiction, I'll stick to My Crown of Thorns for now, so no stories from me I think

But y'all have fun ;)

Is that person Vartag? "Chuckle."

Verly: Happy B-Day.

And not to sound too smug. Ok who am I kidding I am VERY smug, but I am curios to see what will defeat my video in the competition....

Wow... poor old man... Why would Bhelen even do that?

And to Costin_Razvan: Wait, so is Vartag the ONLY distasteful dwarf now? Or the only one important enough to warrant mention?

Bhelen ordered the torture. It wasn't my proudest writing moment, I'll be honest. Not completed it yet <.<

I know my qualifications are Vartag, Lady Dace, or a member of House Ivo. Posted Image
