Agreed Onlyshallow. They're trying to make this game more "Mass effectish" and the gameplay and replayability are really suffering for it.

The mods are what make Bioware games for me. Qwynn's mod fixed so many loose ends and that was for a game that was in development for most of this decade. How many more glitches, bugs and incoherencies are likely in a game that's being hurried to production? Add to that the additional colours and tints, the hairstyles and the QoL add-ons that modders bring to the party. I bought DA:O early because I had confidence that even if the game were defective the mod community would quickly fix it.

Bah!

As long as the game being rushed doesn't mean it's has KotOR II leavels of unfinished-ness I think I'll be fine. Toolsets are really useful for looking up dialogue but I suppose I can survive without it.

In other news, I totally just finished Chapter NineteenPosted Image

It's not that it's being more "Mass Effect"-like, at least for me, it's that BioWare aren't who they were. I've recently, i.e. the past 2 weeks) finished both KotOR and Jade Empire, and something about those games is brilliant. I'm playing Awakening for the second time, and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would, although it's still annoyingly buggy (1.04 seems to have reversed a fix from 1.02 - i.e. the Rally deactivation, and didn't fix Sigrun's quest for me).

But DA2? I dunno. One thing I enjoyed about BioWare's fantasy RPGs is making my own character - I like designing new ones in DA:O, as an example. Whilst I'm attached to my KotOR/JE characters, they're not mine. I'm attached to FemShep a bit more as she's one I sort of created (used someone else's as a base, I think, and modified her from there. Took 2-3 revisions to get her how I like), and as such I poured time into her.

Yeah, I can design FemHawke, but it's not the same. I like viewing Ferelden through the eyes of a Dwarf, and I think that BioWare will need to rectify it in DA3. One of the great things about Origins was exactly that - the origins.

Back again to SC 2...now it's time for multiplayer after I finished all the Single Player achievement ( truthfully I only had one that I wanted to finish ) save for the Lost Viking ones and the finish the game in 8 hours on normal.

Pesky Protoss and their Void Rays....quite easy to deal with though, use Ghosts and EMP charge...

Seriously I think Protoss are FUBAR-ed against Terrans, the only real strategy they can provide is use High Templars ( Dark Templars fail as you got scan, Stalkers get crushed by Marauders, Zealots too if you add concussive shells, immortals, colossus's and carriers are way to expensive and just fail against the M Ball - Marines/Marauders/Medivacs - ) however using HT actually takes Micro Skill, which most don't....so the second best strategy is mass Void Rays...which fails very badly against a decent Terran.

You know . . . I've never really given the Starcraft series a shot. Always been a "Command & Conquer" kind of guy.

I think I might just go pick up the first Starcraft game and give it a spin.

The 2nd game will have to wait. My computer sucks.

I like the Dwarves, I think, although they're a bit stylised and exaggerated, it fits in with what Dwarves "are". I'd prefer the woman to be slightly stockier, and for the Lynda Carter waist to be gone (it looks good, but I don't think it's really fitting for a Dwarf). Either way, it's an improvement over DA:O.

Just my opinion, of course.

Yea, I know. SC is known for its balance, but it's not that balanced. Protoss players require great micro skills to beat a Terran. A strategy I have in mind is sentry / colossus combo, which I'll try out. Stalkers too, if blink is microed properly.
Immortals might be good against Marauders, but a well placed emp blast will f*** them up.

Definitely second this.

Seriously, considering that dwarves actually start winning provings AT THE AGE OF TWELVE, I'd be scandalized if they DIDN't have six packs, especilly with how they start fighting the darkspawn as soon as they reach adolescence.

Uh... hey look.  That's an Olympian, y'all.

Unbelievably, it really is possible for fat and muscle to exist in the same body.  Sometimes in great quantity.  A *lot* of our best fighters in the SCA are sporting beer guts.  They're just big guys, and sometimes big guys have big bellies.  Sometimes they don't.

holy- her thighs are bigger then my waist. What.

What I liked about the dwarves in the DA universe as they've been presented now, is that you were allowed not to play the LOL DRUNK DWARF cuddly warrior stereotype, or the I SEE YOU LOOKING AT ME IMMA CUT YOU for the ladies.

My Aeducan is prissy, prissy flirt and Missa is- well okay, Missa does fit the IMMA CUT YOU mould but she's sexy with it. And not the Short Comedy Stereotype. That's what I would be pissed with if the art direction goes to.

It is the best balanced RTS though....the only game that comes close is Warcraft III+TFT. While a Protoss does require good micro to win so does a Terran player if he doesn't want the Psi Storms to demolish his army. The problem is that Protoss have only one viable strat, while Terrans can either go with a heavy infantry build, get air or get Thors.

Your sentry/colossus build is useless. Not only Colossus expensive as hell, but they can't actually hit a Terran with decent micro ( who will just dance around your Colossus ) AND they can be hit by Vikings in flight mode. Also EMP blast does reveal Hallucinations for a short time, so Sentries are useless.

Stalkers seem interesting, but in the large scheme of things even with their blink they are useless for a Protoss. Marauders just deal insanely high damage to them, and when you factor in Tanks, Ghosts and Banshees/Vikings then well...they are just fodder.

You are part of the SCA?

Anyway irrelevant, but just curios. On to the topic at hand though.

I think it should be mentioned that a lot of people in the military have beer bellies, but are still quite capable of fighters. Many people drink and quite a very big number of soldiers do as well, so it makes sense for dwarves to be like that since for them there is only war with no peace...

Still hate it though.
