In Baldur's Gate one of my characters had something like 50% magic resistance, and half the time healing spells wouldn't work.

Even when you meet Morrigan she says you have nothing to fear from her since you are a dwarf.

I might be willing to play a game of origins that was modded to make dwarves resistant to ALL magic.

No haste and no heal would make me :(

Then again, I'd like a game where if one of my non grey warden party members falls to a darkspawn, they actually die from the taint. Let's up the stakes and make this game more realistic on higher difficulty settings instead of just giving bad guys more hit points.

"I am really interested in how it's possible for all that magic in Ferelden to not be able to heal some crippled legs"

One of the lords in the Landsmeet says that Howe did things to his son that are beyond a healer's skill.

Well, I believe he said that some things were beyond magical healing, but not specifically his legs. If there were appendages removed, or muscle tissue removed or turned to hamburger, cartilage smashed to dust, castration, etc. these things may be beyond healing magic. Also, if the wounds had gone septic and killed the flesh, this would beyond magical healing. Remember, they can't bring people back from the dead and I doubt there is magic to regrow things or revive dead flesh.

It probably both didn't occur to him to look into magical healing as a dwarf from Orzammar plus the mages are pretty isolated so getting access would be hard and by the time you show up again and have a mage army it would have been too long.

Question: since all we know is that his leg apparently healed crooked, would the sacred ashes help?

I really think they should help, the Ashes I mean, since the legends did speak of cripples dancing in joy, or something, and the blind seeing and all that.

I suppose I'll take advantage of the tragic death of the old thread that I could never keep up with, and use this new thread as a chance to finally post here.

So, hi everyone! Dwarves are awesome! And, uh yeah, stuff...

Well, apparently there will come a DLC for post Awakening where you fight a mage that is trying to recreate golems.

And apparently you have a bronto and a golem as party members.

A dwarf DLC would be great, but I wonder how they'd make that work for folks that choose to not destroy the Anvil...? Or is there something about that that I misunderstood?

FINE DWARVEN CRAFTS competition!

It’s competition time. To take part, just draw/write/crochet/code/bake something pertaining to, and/or containing dwarves from Dragon Age as your entry. Simple as that!

That's a really nice idea. I'm no good at making anything, but I'll have fun seeing other people's creations. :)

Sarah1281 wrote...

I will probably enter despite having no idea how to use Live Journal and my contest issues. I know things are just for fun but being told that other people's things are better than yours is never fun.

*wanders off to ponder why she has so many bizarre isseus*

I'd probably join you on your feelings about contests, if I could make anything to enter. ;)

*ends her post with something about Dwarves being awesome again*

If you broke up his leg again, maybe. I don't think that it works on such an big physical injury though.

The problem probably is that he (or she) kidnaps people and makes golems out of them for himself. He (or she) isn't sanctioned by the dwarves and has no access to the anvil.

And hai *waves*

*sips apple juice quietly*

Though! I have actually had mushroom wine before. It tasted like... really cheap vodka. I've also had parsnip wine, and oh god I don't remember much else after.

I had dandelion wine at a Hutterite Colony in Saskatchewan while working on a farm.

Not bad... once you washed your mouth with water.

I eat them knowingly and voraciously. What is the problem with fungi?

You get fungus on your feet. Mold is fungus. It's just disgusting.

Of course, lest anyone get deeply offended I don't like mushrooms, keep in mind that that's just my opinion and I'm not judging those who do happen to like them.
