Yeah someone hit her with the ugly stick...probably Oghren.

Nah, the genes are to blamed for that hideous creation. Give Oghren some leniency.

Oh I wasn't accusing him of being a Wife Beater. Just going off the description of their marriage it sounds pretty volatile.

Just hearing him talk to Felsa I know his marriage with Branka was volatile. No doubt as to why she cheated on him.

Of course, the fact that she was clearly attracted to the same gender might have played some sort of role in it.

Was she forced into the marriage like the DN may have been if the whole Kinslayer incident never happened? I just do not see why anyone would want to marry him.

I do not hate Oghren, I like many of his dialogues, but some of his banter is just childish in my opinion.

They were married before she became a Paragon.

Oghren was one of the best and most respected warriors at the time. I think much of his seeming childishness is after Branka left.

Yeah, Oghren was a prominent and well-respected member of a very powerful warrior caste house and Branka was an up-and-coming smith so it was a good political match.

Not really basically when the two of them got married Oghren was a fairly famous member of the Warrior Caste who'd successful led an expedition into the deep roads or something. It was along those lines, and Branka was a gifted member of the smith caste but she wasn't famous. So he started off as the more well known of the two when they married then as things progressed she ended up becoming a Paragon, and he started to drink more as a result which basically got worse as time passed until the incident with the Nobles son at the first blood proving that's when Branka basically abandoned him, and took her house into the Deep Roads to find the anvil.

At least that's my understanding of it.

Oghren has a whole little speech about how he always thought he turned out the way he did because Branka left, but he realizes that she probably left because of the way he is.

Maybe, but there is no way of finding out since it is last we will ever see of him most likely. I was overreacting a bit earlier about his behavior, my bad.

Oghren is actually pretty deep it's just the stereotypical Drunk Dwarf Berserker thing is a turn off to a lot of people. Plus the whole totally forgot my whole character arc within the span of a year.

He wasn't ridiculed until after Branka took the whole house into the Deep Road and killing Lord Meino's son happened because Meino said that Branka had to be dead by then and Oghren freaked out and challenged him to an Honor Proving to first blood (which he ignored). Oghren was still Oghren pre-abandonment, of course, but not nearly so bad.

I will not hold Awakening against him; it has its own problems.

I saw that as his guilt talking. Branka left for the anvil, I don't think she left for any other reason.

Yeah I wasn't sure if he had started drinking heavily before hand, or if he did after but I was mainly going off the top of my head.

As for Awakening I basically look at it as Oghren coming to terms with who he truly is. Still give him hell for abandoning Felsi, and his child but I understand his reasonings.

At least in the epilogue of Awakening there can be a good ending for Oghren if you play your cards right.

I have a question: If you bring Oghren into the fade in Origins, will it have an impact in Awakening if you bring him to the Blackmarsh?

Yeah, he has alternate dialogue when you click on the floating boat.

Hmm, may be worthy to take him to the Fade once sometime, though going through Orzammar at a low level would be painful.

It's really not that bad. Worst fight is the two Emissary's with the Spiders, and even there not that bad because you can get Mana Clash on Morrigan by then if you abuse the tomes, and Bodahn's inventory.

When I make another DN in the future, I may just do that, though I believe the enemies at Orzammar are level 10 minimum. Should be interesting since I always entered Orzammar around lvl 13-14.

Yeah basically the only fights you need to worry about our Emissary's with or without spiders, and if you've gone through the DR you know where they all are, the Shriek ambush, and the Ancient Darkspawn. And you can angle the camera is such a way that you can get most of the Emissary's with clash before they see you, and just reload if they resist.

I will probably have to take the whole party with me in the entire map: before I just put them on hold for almost the entire expedition just because I am a glory-hog.

I use all my assets. Now admittedly most of those assets are easy on the eyes, and that's part of my reason for taking them.
