As long as they do not steal my kills, especially on the bosses, it will work out. The hard part will be keeping them alive when enemies use their AOEs and area stuns (shrieks). The golems in the trap areas can be a pain in the ass if your group follows you.

Jeez... I'm WAY behind. Was re-playing Awakening with one Warden for most of the evening (so I can redo Witch Hunt with proper dialogue). Chalk it up to me being a ****** and not waiting for the patch.

Anyway, saw one question that caught my interest (and that I could answer intelligently)

Does anyone else have a hard time justifying their DN romancing a human/elf? I usually play my DN's as being in love with Orzammar and wanting to return, and obviously being with a human makes that very difficult. Though I'm not sure a surface dwarf would be any better thana human.

I didn't have a hard time justifying, to myself anyway, DN/DAO L.I. romance at all. I spent quite a bit of time already trying to formulate a detailed reason why I feel this way, but each thing I could have said would have made me look stupid or just ignorant. I can't really see my DN going back to Orzammar full-time as a homecoming (though visits are definitely possible) as there were big changes in her life, and right now, while still being faithful to her home in the Deep, is happy with Alistair as they continue being Grey Wardens. Its hard to explain clearly, but when I come up with a better explanation (either with bringing up the topic again or posting a link to a future fanfic), I'll get back to ya

Wow...you ain't alone, PMA. I freaked out when I saw 3 whole new pages overnight! Though I wasted my evening more than you did yours - I was hemming and hawwing over what armor to give whom for like an hour. I'm a total loot **** - I admit it. The only way I can get myself to do tedious sidequests/DLC is by reminding myself of the loot...

Hmm, may be worthy to take him to the Fade once sometime, though going through Orzammar at a low level would be painful.

You can do what I did - finish Orzammar just up to Oghren then go somewhere else. I took Oghren through the Urn, the Circle Tower and the Brecilian Forest before I went back to the Deep Roads. I found it funny that all he said that whole damn time was "Stop wasting time, Warden! I'm not here to chat!" <_<

And yeah, regarding DN/Human LIs. I saw another thread once where people saidf they couldn't take dwarves past Lothering because they were too ugly. I think this is another reason people dislike DA dwarves - their faces are too wide, their noses too big, and the FREAKING ORANGUTAN ARMS. Plus DA doesn't give us any hot dwarves, even though they're perfectly possible in the character creator.

Solution? I prettied up my DNF. a LOT. So I could stand to see her kissing Alistair. Then when I got to my DNM I went the Giggles Manically school of thought again - shag anything that moves! I got over it. Though both my DNs went the Sarah1821 school of thought too - ran back to Orzammar the instant the coronation was over.

Ahh, loot... *reminisces upon the loot from his first Awakening-to-Witch Hunt playthrough* Damn, I made so many mistakes with my first Warden, loot-wise, and it caused me to lose my favorite armor ever in Origins, Dwarven Heavy (I traded it up for Blood Dragon Armor, unaware that Blood Dragon Armor doesn't transfer to Awakening). First go at Awakening, I found Volcanic Aurum Dwarven Heavy cuirass and boots, and it looked great combined with Stormchaser gauntlets. Unfortunately the DR glitch happened in Witch Hunt, and I decided to jump the gun, delete any post-epilogue saves, and start over Awakening once I heard about the source of the glitch, and since the new Dwarven Heavy stuff I got was random loot...

Well, you get the picture... :crying:

*in the voice of that creepy crippled guy in "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny"* Oh how I miss that sweet-ass Dwarven Heavy Armor of mine... *proceeds to sob*

There are much better armor sets out there then those. Dragonbone Plate, Legion of the Dead, Juggernaut. Kinda weird that your favorites are ones that you pick up pretty much any where if you look around enough.

Yeah, but to each his own, right? People vary in their favourite gear choices as much as they do in their game choices. It's all about RPing for some people - plenty of Cousland players switch to the Family Sword and Shield of Highever to kill Arl Howe, for example. And I myself am obsessed with the Dwarven Noble Armor from the DN origin - my DNs don't wear anything else into the endgame. Makes the game a lot harder, but there you go.

PMA - oh man. I feel your pain. Are you on the PC? Console commands are your friend. :)

I would SO do that if I could. Sadly, I play on XBox and as far as I know you can't get the armor back that way. My DNs always refuse to part with that sword from Harrowmont (it was the only thing they had to remember Orzammar by!) until they get the Starfang which is just too awesome to ignore, won't wear anything non-dwarven until they get the dragon armor because the badass-ness of wearing armor crafted from the scales of a high dragon you yourself brought down is worth it, and never part with the Aeducan shield despite the fact that they're rogues and really should stop acting like warriors.

So yeah, I tend to completely ignore what has the best stats in favor of what items my characters are interested in.

Yeah I tend to play my DN as too practical to let sentimentality get in his way. Though he tends to use the Aeducan shield until around the time of the Landsmeet then I usually have him use Duncan's along with the Warden Commander's armor.

Alistair: But I don't wanna wear Cailen's armor! He diieeeeeeed in it!
Duran: Look Alistair...we're trying to create an image here...your the son of King Maric so you should use his sword, and Cailen was your brother...it's important you project a certain image, and Loghain isn't going to expect it so it'll help to catch him off guard.
Alistair: But I don't wanna it's Icky! And why can't I use Duncan's shield! I just got it!
Duran: Because you decided that I'm apparently the Warden Commander of Ferelden even though I was only in the order for like a week tops. So I'm going to be wearing it, and Sophia's armor...besides it's the only thing that doesn't clash, and I haven't seen a good heavy shield since I left Orzammar. It's also really bizzare that Duncan even had a shield. Pretty sure he was a Rogue.

I am quite proud the both my first Cousland, and my first DN took their family shields with them through the entire game.

My DC kept the Aeducan mace Duncan gave her for a long time, with the intention of equipping it to swagger around Orzammar with. Then she actually went back to Orzammar. Just before she left, she dropped that mace and the one Bhelen gave her into the lava (destroyed both items on the Proving Bridge). Because SCREW YOU, Orzammar. Just screw you.

I'm not really sure it gets in the way, exactly. The items are good enough and I've never had a problem beating the game with them. Although my refusal to ever have anyone in any of my games use darkspawn equipment ever might be a bit odd. You never know if it's tainted or not, though... :P

I know what you mean. Only Alistair or the Warden could actually use it, and there's definitely pretty stuff out there. Besides the quality of Darkspawn made gear is probably pretty low. At least not up to Dwarven Standards.

My Dalish thinks this way.  She let Alistair have a darkspawn bow very briefly at the start of the game, and destroyed it as soon as they got something better not darkspawn.

Well, she does keep most of the random loot, poultices and whatnot.  Weapons and Demonic Ichor go straight to the burn pile.  She doesn't even sell them.

Yeah I think you mentioned this somewhere. I knew you whacked Howe with the Highever Shield, but you carried it through the WHOLE GAME? Balls of steel, ser. They should've made it an endgame shield like the Aeducan one.

That hits me right where I live. And I used the console until I got fed up and created a mod with the Dwarven Noble Armor and the Paragon-Forged Crown (my DN, uh, dangled Branka over lava until she agreed to forge me one too. With the stats of the Helm of Honnleath. Cough).

But yeah, luckily for us the Aeducan Shield has endgame-ish stats. And I made Alistair carry Gorim's Sword all through the Deep Roads once, in memory of a good friend.

Even the weapons? Wow. Ichor I can understand, but Gorim gives you shiny shiny coins for weapons...

If your Warden really thinks its tainted, it is highly irresponsible to go about passing them along to the general population and even worse to risk a friend like that.

Though you would figure that they'd melt the weapons down into the raw materials, and reforge them rather then sell them as is...at least you hope they would.

Would that protect the merchant who buys it and the smith that reforges it? Even if darkspawn can turn off their taint like that qunari merchant insists in Awakening, that seems to be a relatively unknown concept and the potentially tainted weapons would still be an issue.

I really have no idea. Though once it's exposed to fire you would think that would be enough to burn off the taint that's present on the items. But who knows. It ends up being a gameplay over lore issue.

For me, it's just an RP tic. The character considers the darkspawn unclean; destroying their artifacts is a matter of principle. (Trust a Dalish to understand the importance of destroying material culture as part of war...)

(And yes, since she's tainted, she considers herself unclean as well. She's not a happy camper. This was supposed to be a non-romanced WC playthrough and now I wonder if she's going to US on me.)

IF your Warden thinks it's tainted.

And Gorim's smart - he knows a darkspawn weapon when he sees one. If he turns around and bashes me on the head with it going "How could you sell me a tainted weapon, you ungrateful beeyotch?!" I'd think it was perfectly justified.

Ah you meant DARKSPAWN weapons - got it. Thought you meant everything, Spear-Thrower, Faith's Edge an' all.

And noooo - tell her to hang on 'til Witch Hunt! Haven't played it yet, but do you get extra dialogue if you're Dalish?

IF your Warden thinks it's tainted.

Well that was the scenario. If they don't think they are tainted there is no reason to destroy them.

Mmm. I thought she was referring to ALL weapons though, not just darkspawn ones.

I think it also depends on WHICH merchant you sell it to...*coughLotheringMerchantcough*

Oh heck no, just the darkspawn stuff. She only equips Dalish arms and armor, and will prefer the rings/belts/pendants when available, but the rest of the party can have the awesome drops.

I've heard you do get extra dialogue in WH, which is one reason I started a Dalish playthrough. I'll just need to find a good RP reason to let Alistair take the header. Or maybe take the DR; I usually avoid it, though. I don't trust Flemeth.

Um... *tries to be on-topic*... anybody use a signature attack with their dwarf? My DC was a fiend for Acid Flasks, much to Sten's dismay. He kept taking friendly fire...

Wow. Hats off to you, madam. I have a special respect for people who take RPing over practicality. A lot of good stuff is elven anyway isn't it? Andruil's Blessing, The Veshialle...

LOL. I just recently got the bug where both Harrowmont and Bhelen's fanatics spawn on top of each other, and by the time I'd finished stealth-bombing Alistair was FURIOUS with me. But all the enemies were near him...:?

See I never saw the DR as having any thing to do with trusting Flemeth, but whether you trusted Morrigan or not.
