Yeah, I think Shale only speaks up if Sten is there and Sten's all 'Politics is stupid. Just pick somebody' which makes it seem more like he's just annoyed with the whole process while Wynne's all 'But...but Bhelen's evil! And you gave Lord Harrowmont your word! That's almost as sacred as a pinky promise!' Vartag offering to throw her into the Deep Roads is the only time I ever liked him.Giggles_Manically wrote...

Yeah, sometimes I question her intelligence with some of the statements she makes. At least the dialogue is not as bad in Orzammar otherwise my dwarves would problems with her attitude.

It would be just a perfect way for her to meet her Ancestors...You know...I like that you incorporated my idea of throwing Lady Dace into the lava, somewhat that is.
That's why it's my theory that Bhelen keeps him around so he has a scapegoat in a pinch. I mean, if one of Bhelen's little schemes are discovered then who would it be easier to pin the blame on while you feign ignorance? Someone like Vartag or someone like Dulin?I dont get Vartag at all.

^This. I'm glad I downloaded the Feastday stuff, because maintaining the PERFECT approval levels to initiate quests and stuff is easy as pie with random gifts. Also, for me, its always funny giving Zevran the chastity belt.
Just a random opinion; I truly believe the Dwarf Noble origin is the most compelling origin in Dragon Age Origins. Its one of my top-two favorites (the other being City Elf).
Not to say that the other origins arent good... well actually I believe the Dalish Elf origin is the most disappointing story-wise (recently started a playthrough), and pales in comparison to Dwarf Noble and Dwarf Commoner origins

I have to agree with you, except I have CE, DN and HN as tied as the top 3 compelling origins in my book. The other origins seem to miss a key ingredient that makes me lose interest quickly when playing through the origin stories, with DE with the weakest story in my opinion.

Dwarf Commoner is my favourite as it gave me Missa, as much as I loathe her sometimes and her CONSTANT NOISE OF IDEAS in my head. Dwarf Noble is fun and my first proper completed playthrough, and Sereda Aeducan (shh I used the default don't judge) makes me all sentimental about the game in general. Her story ends after Awakenings though, and I feel no need to explain it like I do Missa's.
I struggle with human noble and the dreaded "cous cous" syndrome, and struggle to RP them without getting bored.
I keep on meaning to complete my Tabris and my Surana, but my free time is currently too thinly spread.

soignee- That wasn't my issue with the Dalish Elf origin. My issue was that I couldn't really RP a total badass warrior who stuck with his traditions. I was annoyed with how Tamlen would call the Dalish (future) warden essentially a "p****" for just doing the honorable thing and letting the humans go with a warning. Or the cave entrance. My character respects the keeper of the Mahariel clan, but when I suggested talking to the keeper, Tamlen once again said I was chicken, in nicer words. I actually don't get the big deal about Tamlen as those two instances made me want to stab him repeatedly. Another thing that annoyed me was that I tried to pick dialogue options of disapproval with Duncan taking me to the Grey Wardens, and the choices made my character sound too wussy as Duncan mentioned dragging me kicking and screaming, which really pissed me off (unusual for an actual Origin to make me this mad about specific choices in diaogue). If you care to know, I based my Dalish Elf highly on Crixus from "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" in both looks and personality. These experiences, plus the blandness and apparent contempt from the other Mahariel clansman for my character, who followed traditions exemplified bravery, really prevented me from relating to anyone. Honestly the only thing I liked about the origin was the Mirror, and that was mostly because of what I know from Witch Hunt. This is the only time I'm playing this origin and I CAN'T WAIT to U.S. this warden and play Awakening with an awesome Orlesian Dwarf Warden
Yeah, long rant there, I apologize. I was really disappointed with that Origin, as I expected more in story, character interaction, significance of my character in his setting. Thankfully the other Origins provide that. That is one reason why the Dwarf Noble origin was so cool. You could literally roleplay ANY type of personality you wanted in Origins, as I was able to successfully create the character and personality of Sundira that I wanted. Same with Dwarf Commonor, too, which took me by surprise when I created Hallic and played him through the Origin. Honestly the Dwarf origin stories had so much substance, its hard to believe that only a measly 5% would play through these characters...

Pretty much agree with you about the Dalish origin. I did not like Tamlen at all and his attitude. Though killing the shemlen in the beginning was a fun treat when I first went through that origin.
As for the DN origin, I find it hard to roleplay as any type of personality. I find it hard to be a goody-two-shoes DN who truely believes lower castes, especially the castless, are equals. Part of it being the noble culture the noble was raised in. That can change after the betrayal in the Deep Roads, however it would take some time to alter such attitudes in my opinion.

I do not blame you for going against the grain as I also find many popular things in real life to be overrated. The major difference between the HN origin and the others is the LM where you get to be the King's or Queen's "sidekick". The men get miss bug-eyed Anora with a poor imitation of Princess Leia's hairstyle and the women get the High School jock from high school. The men also have the luxury of the option of having Loghain as your father-in-law. As Cailan would say: "Glorious!"
Well I won't say anything bad about Alistair. He's my bro in almost every playthrough, and definitely not a jock. In fact he's more like the nerdy-virgin type, which adds to his likeableness imo. I relate a lot to him personality-wise, and hence why he deserved to be "corrupted" by Sundira, my best-looking, best-female-personality warden yet
Yep, I gave him the dwarven love. He now has "Stone Fever". Has anyone coined that term yet?, because I feel like I've seen that quoted before...
But if you don't like him that much, I won't hold that against ya. And ftr, I DO agree with everything else you said

I was joking a bit when I made that post. Alistair in my opinion looks like the starting QB of a college football team. Maybe it is the hair. Next time I will add some indicators that I am not being serious since it is hard to tell sarcasm on the internet. And next time I will make sure to proofread before typing such statements as "the High School jock from high school." Oh well, too late to change that.

Wojech: Well if it isn't the exiled Lady Aeducan/little Lord Aeducan (VO: Scornfully, condescendingly)
(Wojech: I'm looking forward to humiliating you, just like my brother did. (VO: Contemptuous))
(Wojech: I hear you made meat of my little brother. Looks like it's time to put the polish back on the Ivo name. (VO: Threatening))
PC: Your brother betrayed me and House Aeducan.
Wojech: I don't think so, exile. You're a nameless Surfacer now and my brother stands at Prince Bhelen's left hand (VO: Contemptuous)
PC: I'm going to make you eat those words.
Wojech: This isn't some Glory Proving to celebrate a noble brat's first commission, exile. (VO: Disdainful) You're fighting men now, not little girls. (VO: Macho)
PC: When Harrowmont is King, you and your brother will both hang.
Wojech: If Harrowmont has no one to champion him but a nameless exile, how will he find the votes to be King? (VO: Disdainful) You know what they say: The ancestors help those who side with the winners. (VO: Macho)
He's just generally condescending and 'I never saw anything special about your order' to non-DN's but he is REALLY begging you to side with Harrowmont just so you can return to the Proving area post-coronation and kill him in the resulting riot.

Ahh my bad for assuming otherwise. I didn't know you were using sarcasm. And yes I don't fully understand why THAT particular hairstyle is even in the game as well. Looks too modern, and does make Alistair look like a jock. Then again I guess I don't have a right to complain since I used that very hairstyle when making Hallic. Hmm... when she gets better, I wonder, out of curiosity, how soignee will do Hallic's hair in my commission request.
