You actually use WORDS when courting someone? I thought a good shield bash or a skull blugeoning was the unoffical language of love, and WWF style wrestling the prefered form of foreplay!

You men. Is that all you're interested in is TALKING?

The silent sisters do not need to speak. The only conversation required is burying their axe in your skull. Anything else is just pointless, really.

What about flirting? I mean an axe could be intriguing for a while, but that would get too scary eventually.
What about the sweet talk?

I mean it's like having a mute TV, it's useless :P

A dark age that will be forgotten, once it becomes mandatory to install mute buttons in all new-born males. Then, finally, the make sex will be made perfect.

So declareth Skadi.

Is that in a dictatorial sense, a pseudo divine sense, a fully divine sense, an imperial sense, or a inane sense of a decleration?

Is it weird that I can't stand the Silent Sisters? They really seem like they're doing more harm than good for Orzammar's women fighters. They're the only women fighters (except for people like, say, a princess) who are automatically taken seriously. Even Adal Helmi who is likely the sister of a deshyr and a high-up member of a very powerful family has to deal with that kind of crap. The Silent Sisters aren't a threat to the established order of things as they mutilate themselves and so aren't really capable of functioning out there by themselves and need a handler plus they probably never get married and have children so they can't pass along anything about their fighting.

The men in Orzammar have been shown to not really want women fighting but if it's a Silent Sister then they're nice and easily placed apart from the rest of society. If women want to fight and to be taken seriously, society practically shoves them at the Silent Sisters and as long as they're the women fighters given any automatic respect, it stops women fighters from becoming more mainstream and accepted.

I don't like the Silent Sisters either for reason stated above. I always liked to think that my DNF tried to improve the view of female fighters before her exile, and later when she returned as a Paragon.
But it seems like female warrios are not so unusual that they should be considered as very strange occurrence, even if they are not royalty. The dwarf noble's granmother was a warrior, and unless she was a ruling queen she must have been a fighter before she was a royal. Shale was also a warrior, and probably warrior caste. And I think Hespith was the commander of Branka's troops.

Yeah, it might not be as rare as it once was but this dialogue that the DNM gets if he fights in the Proving is what I'm basing the issues that men have with women fighters in Orzammar on.

(IF: Male)
MaleDN: "Who is my next opponent?"
Proving Master: "Adal Helmi. A... a woman, your Highness. She's a tenacious fighter." (VO: Hesitant, speaker seems afraid to say this.)
1. I'll fight anyone.
2. You let a woman fight in the Proving in my honor?
Proving Master: "It was not my idea. Lady Helmi was most insistent. I did not expect her to actually win her first match. Will you fight her?" (VO: Speaker is trying not to push blame around.)
2a. If I have to.
2b. Why not? Should be easy.
2c. No. I'm done with this Proving.
Proving Master: "Please forgive me, your Highness. I never meant to cause offense." (SET: Provings_Offended) *End dialogue*
3. Yes, but I must rest first.

When the match begins:
Adal Helmi: "Honor and glory to your house, your Highness." (VO: Respectful)
1. There is no honor in fighting a woman.
2. And to yours.
3. I'm going to slaughter you.
(IF: Victory) Proving Master: "That was a crowd-pleaser. Many were waiting to see that woman put in her place."

Compared to what DNF's get:

(IF: Female)
FemDN: "Who is my next opponent?"
Proving Master: "Adal Helmi. Another female warrior, and a tenacious fighter."
1. Good. It will be an interesting fight.
2. I need to rest first.

When the match begins:
Adal Helmi: "You are my inspiration, your Highness, and to all of us who follow your example and live by the sword." (VO: Respectful, awed)
1. Thank you.
2. Be proud of getting this far.
3. I'm going to slaughter you.
(IF: Victory) Proving Master: "That was a crowd-pleaser. I can't remember the last time we had two female warriors of such skill."

Actually, this left me wondering what they were saying about the DNF or if they were smart enough not to say anything against the second-in-line for the throne. Perhaps they were okay with Adal fighting in Lady Aeducan's proving because it was already about a woman but they wanted to keep Lord Aeducan's proving all-men.

On the moon! Really big, so it can be seen from earth. So everyone can bask in my greatness, and I can look down upon my adoring subjects!

It will have to be done in stages though.
With a moving platform to counteract the axial rotation of both bodies.
Will need a sheild to counteract meteor bombardment
hmmm Give me a minute to tabulate the exact timeframe, costs, and sizes.

Plus I have to buy the rights to the moon, since the Virgin Mobile guy bought them.
This will be expensive so I suggest transfering funds from your Siberian and Canary Island accounts to cover the intial windfall, with your  Korean, and European investments covering the last of it.

We may also need to talk about if this thing is merely a decorative piece, or a base/temlpe affair.

OMG lol did you really say this!? I'm in slight disbelief. Thats one of my sexual fantasies :P. I've always wanted a woman to beat me into submission. Its the best way for a woman to tell ME that they want me.

Sorry for the bad joke. I'm a very passive, gentle man :D

One last question..
Do you want two massive death beams, or one death beam, and multiple smaller ones to cover the exhaust port?

I guess whatever royalty wants do is the right thing to do. If the princess wants to fight, and the king allows it(even encourages it) then suddenly it's very accepted with female warriors, or the proving master is just a hypocrite.

The whole thing must radiate a constant aura of death beams. Nothing but the best for me.

That means I have to find the correct crystals to get the optimum alignment to pull this off.
Currently I am not on the best of terms with Norway. I can create beams but not aura's of death ray, unless I have those elements.

This adds another day or two to the plot. But that is the price we must suffer to create art.

No, I haven't. I've been meaning to give support to Alistair as a bro since he's awesome, so maybe soon I'll be around there.

Anyway, you're awesome. I don't remember if I've seen your posts before, but if I haven't, then pleasure to meet you

Also, in regards to the Silent Sisters as a whole, I can see the arguments for pro and anti support, and to be honest I'm on the fence about my opinion on them. All I can say is that the silent sisters we've seen thus far seem pretty badass to me.

I don't deny that the Silent Sisters are badass, I just think that their practice of mutilating themselves and thus preventing themselves from being both a fighter AND a real member of society hurts the cause of women fighters.

Oh, I wasn't saying you were denying that.

I said what I said because that is the only solid opinion I have on the concept of the Silent Sisters, and I was just expressing that . Wasn't directed at anyone.

I know that the Silent Sisters cut their own tongues to emulate Astyth the Grey, but why did she decide to cut her own tongue? She faced hardships trying to become the first female Paragon, so did she do it to show she was dedicated to her people in defeating the darkspawn?

She wasn't trying to become the first female Paragon. This is what the Hanashan's trainer says about her:

They're an order of female warriors, founded by Astyth the Grey, a woman of the Warrior Caste who first fought for women's right to be soldiers. When no one listened to her words, Astyth cut out her tongue and dedicated herself to training, until she won a Grand Proving bare-handed. The women who join her order cut out their tongues in her honor.

It just seems so ironic. Astyth cut out her own tongue to prove a point because no one would listen to her when she tried to advance the cause of women fighters and her own followers prevent themselves from being heard or making a difference because they can't speak at all. Astyth did what she did after she first tried all other options. These Silent Sisters are now inadvertently helping to prevent their cause from progressing any further with the whole 'You want to fight? Go cut out your tongue and be incapable of being anything else or ever changing anything' mentality Orzammar seems stuck in.

It may be a reference to the phrase "actions speak louder than words" though literally it is ironic for her to cut her tongue as she wanted someone to hear her words. I have not heard much on how the Silent Sisters are treated in the society but from one spectator in the Provings some consider them to be freaks.

The point of her cutting out her tounge was not to silence her demands, it was to show that talking would get her and her followers nowhere, it would be the language of the blade and axe that would do the talking for them.

In effect, a silent sister can't simply tell you what she is, she shows you. Action vs. Words.
