I would love to see romances between party members and would be interested in any impact Hawke may have between Bethany and any other party members in such regard.

Anyone have any ideas?

Aww me to, I hope little Bethany gets a boyfriend in Dragon age 2 and runs off somewhere and gets married.

Do want, it would be soo fun to play as an over-protective big brother.

I really like this idea. It could open up a lot of interesting story possibilities.

So, I could very wickedly encourage her to develop a relationship with one of the other female party members. Hmmm ...

Yeah, let Bethany find love!

Also, I think you mean "inter", not "intra". I dread to think what an intra-NPC romance would look like...

Bethany looks like a lovely girl. I hope she finds her dream man or woman.

But then one of them will probably die considering the writing team's apparent aversion to happiness! :-(

Tragedy sells. But yes, the idea would make the story even better

That is so totally the first thing I thought when I saw this thread. Death threats FTW.

But what if Lady Hawke falls in love with Bethany's boyfriend? What then?

I'm not a big fan of intra-romance with-my-romance-interests, however. >[ I always feel as if the only reason I end up with the guy or girl is being I'm being the most vocal and pursuing them and have metagaming skills when they have another romantic interest in the party.

Oooh, but I'd just love to be able to be get to play big brother/sister. Actually (presuming Bethany doesn't get kidnapped by Flemeth early on), I'm really looking forward to having a sister dynamic.

EDIT: Although, in regards to what Gill Kaiser said, if we can fall in love with a guy that has no interest in us (or girl, I suppose), that'll be a very neat subplot.

Has it been confirmed the player is older than Bethany?

For a good Hawke or marry her to some dispicable fool for personal advancement, I'd like the path to be that divergant!

I'm pretty sure not...Hawke looks older, and that's about it. Generally older brothers and sisters don't last very long in RPGs...little ones make great sidekicks, though! ;)

Yep, sounds good. And I'm sure no player would mind providing the dowry...

I really hope she does survive as it provides a real world concentration for the player, death would make for a very typical revenge scenario that cannot be empted except for limited interaction and codex. A kidnap would be even worse.

If she is to disappear the best story, IMO, would be for Flemeth to occupy her body and Hawkes decision as tohow to deal with this scenario.

The previous is a little off topic, I would love to see Hawke building alliances on a truly personal scale, responsible for interpersonal relationships and resolving internal conflicts.

I don't mind playing big sis--I did it for Imoen in BG2 and loved it--but there are better ways than inter-NPC romances. 9 times out of 10, they get to be highly obnoxious.

See also: Aerie and Haer'Dalis. *pulls out shotgun*

Unrequited love? For real? My inner roleplayer just got a massive boner. Here's hoping this will actually be doable. (Here's also hoping my Hawke can find a nice girl, though).

Indeed, but surely a nauseating romance between npc's is better dynamic than a party just waiting for the PC to click their fingers?

...have you ever played in a party with Aerie and Haer'Dalis?  Not only is it nauseating, it's downright DISRUPTIVE.  Their stupid banter comes up at the worst times, not to mention how it messes with any PCs attempting to romance Aerie (though why anyone would want the insufferable harpy is completely beyond my comprehension).

If there are NPC/NPC romances, a few simple things could make them a lot less annoying.
  • Don't upstage the PC.  Yeah I'm a selfish prat, but there is kind of a main character.
  • No inter-NPC romances involving characters that the PC could romance.  It just gets messy and obnoxious.
  • Keep it short, simple, and sweet.  A subplot is cute.  A "look at Aerie and Haer'Dalis being nauseating every 30 minutes" is decidedly not.
*is trying not to rant*

Ok so not a fan of Aerie and Haer'Dalis I take it?.

So long since I have played it, was that BG2?, I remember Aerie the non-winged winged elf, Haer'Dalis rings a bell but I'm at a loss there.

I'd suggest if such patter gets tiresome only use them in seperate parties, if such an occurence were to occur.
Rant as much as you want, if something irked you it no doubt did others Posted Image
