A sequel to a very well received and selling game would be expected to have the same level of production and gameplay across the board.

Same guys are making the game. This is the way they want to go, it's their property. They're not forcing me to buy it. I've got faith in them enough. And if that faith is shaken, I won't buy their games anymore. Simple.

What we've been told and shone thus far seems to be anything but...

There are plenty of reasons for concern about where this game is heading.

And here is the problem. Constructive criticism - great! Keep it up. Bad part? Declaring 'BIOWARE HAS RUINED THE FRANCHISE' 50 times in a week is not constructive criticism. It's being a freaking obstructive **** getting in the way of actual suggestions.

To be realistic, there's no win here. You have an opinion on how you'd like the game to be. You want it to be essentially like the old one. Let's say Bioware magically bows to your whims. You're happy. You go away.

And you're instantly replaced by the exact same amount of people complaining that it's less of a game than an expansion pack, and that it sucks and Bioware ruined the franchise forever. No matter what Bioware does, people will complain. So, I say let Bioware do what they want, take criticism as they wish but don't let unruly hoards of miscreants on the forums decide what they should do, because they will always be there and they will always be unruly.

I never got this sort of thinking, I don't go on Treyarch's forums to complain about their new CoD game, I just ignore it. Besides as much as some people complain (perhaps not you, I have no idea about your posting history) saying you are potential customers is a stretch, unless you will buy it anyways which means all the complaining is pointless anyways.

Actually complaining is NOT pointless, it just has unintended side effects.

For example ME1 fans complained the inventory was cluttered.  Most of us HOPED that meant they would clean up the inventory.

What no one expected wast that they would simply remove it and turn ME into ME2: Gears of  Modern Warfare.

People complained about the dialog interface in DAO so we ended up w/ ME2 dialog.

For me, dialog wheel or not, I really don't care. but

PRESS A for BaddAss response? :crying::crying:  What's next, Mountain Dew chugging vids and 4chan shout outs?

I didn't like the ME1 inventory system but never complained about it and got something better. If things like that are what happens then by all means keep going then.

Even if there are a dozen other options per conversation I really hope that there will never ever be a "good" choice vs any variant of evil, badass, closed fist or anything else.

Hmmm. The writer of the article strikes me as quite stupid.

He/she is describing it like it's somekind of Fable. Wondering why there's somekind of cooldown on abilities. And oh...'there's DLC' which we of course would have never expected since the first Dragon Age didn't have any.

I think I know why Bioware went with Gameinformer. This is just sad.

If you read the developer posts in this thread you would see that this is another thing the preview got wrong.

I guess if you consider NOTHING better than something maybe?  I don't agree that removing features is better than fixing them

The writer of that article struck me as a borderline imbecile. I was shocked that any serious gaming publication would publish such a poorly written article. In any case, I hope that, as the article didn't seem well-written or intelligent, it was mischaracterizing aspects of the game (and the Bioware posts in this thread pretty much indicate that).

Also, how does a guy who is professionally going to a comic convention, to write an article for a video game website, about an upcoming video game, claim that he "isn't nerdy enough" to actually know something about the game he is previewing? IGN really scraped the bottom of the barrel.

The ign reviewer didn't even take the time to mention he'd played a pre-beta demo

I'm sure this has been said before (not reading through 14 pages) but to me it didn't sound as though the xbox 360 fighting style was any different. It really made me wonder if the reviewer had even played DA:O, or at least if they had played it on xbox.

Indeed. That particular dialogue (which is apparently the one in the demo) has three options but this doesn't mean that all of them do.

Only if you purposefully misconstrue it.

It is impossible to reasonably take one dialogue shot and assume that it means that every other dialogue has the same number of options, when in DAO, there were dialogues with few options and others with many.  The IGN article doesn't look like it was written seriously or well.

Is this screenshot misleading? There are only three dialogue options. All that's lacking is a misleading preview claiming that all conversation nodes look exactly like it.

And the damage has been done. Even in this thread people don't read the dev's replies that debunk this and now it is spreading. Bioware better reconsider inviting IGN for ANY of their previews ... Image IPB

Wow, look at all the pissed off people. Ahhh journalism today. Source = whatever that other guy who wrote the other article said. (And yes, it is "just" video game journalism, but it's indicative.)

He is doing it on purpose, they are trying to be "in character" and "funny".  IGN playing "Anchorman" so to speak.

THe sad part is IGN LOVES this type of attention.  They love the "haters" I believe they had a feature a few months ago about how hard it was to be a game critic because of the h8ers.

This is really what the internet is all about these days.  Journalism doesn't get the kind of web traffic as cheeky monkey trolling does.

IGN fired their best writer David F. SMith years ago.  Since then it's been the invasion of the Greg Miller types, lots of "i'm a meta nerd!  I live in a meta schtick coma and pretend I am some type of comic genius" themes

also note ""subtle, comic-book look" - IGN is yet another purposely trolling meaningless phrase. All comic books have drastically different artwork. Saying a "comic book look" is like saying "an oil painting look" ORLY>? Which oil painting, that Monet painting of flowers or that Paul Revere portrait of him holding a silver tea pitcher?

Which comic book? John Byrnne's horrendously lazy Superman art from the post Whatever Happened To era or maybe Jim Lee? I read 10 comics this week and all of them had drastically different artwork. Scalped, Power Girl reboot, Tales of the Green Lantern 1980s, American Jesus etc...

Hatfield obviously wrote that as a meta-in joke to OMG zELDA t00n shaded! fanboi outrage.

That whole "Wind wanker" outrage against the outrage was backwards and a great example of the outrage against the outrage being wrong.

For instance, the outrage against Toon Zelda was not because of the cel shading at all. It was because they turned Link into a Power puff girl, the cel shading look was fine, but turning link into a Power Puff kid was absurd.
