Today we got a taste of the new combat system with a mountaintop battle against an army of orcs. They might have been imps or goblins or demons, actually. We're not nerdy enough to know the difference.

If none of them are not 'nerdy' enough to tell the difference, they should all be fired. How did they land their jobs in the first place? I can't take the rest of the article seriously with this kind of incompetence.

I swear, with each passing article, IGN loses a vast amount of their credibility due to their incompetence and their lack of professionalism (With that said, they stopped being a reliable source of information ages ago).

Given that the person writing the preview doesn't know the difference between darkspawn and orcs, I wouldnt' put too much stock in what they say.

ok they probably haven't played origins, but darkspawn don't look that different to orcs.

Duuurrr lets a person who didn't even play the first preview the second. Almost as dumb as Bioware adding in support for people who didn't play the first one.

Only for the particular scene being reviewed. David Gaider said in another thread that there are six options max available...but they would be used just as much as all six responses were used in DA.

Thank god.

It sounded so much like ME in the article I was nearly hyperventilating. The way the article was written made it seem like this push-hack-slash pretty graphics kind of game. (Not that ME2 was like that, but honestly come on, ME2 is more pew pew than story-based).

Relax, it's just IGN being idiots again. I'm pretty sure the responses were good, snarky, or violent. And there's gonna be more than just those 3.

My hate-meter for IGN just went up by 10 points. Don't know the difference between imps/goblins/demons because they aren't "nerdy" enough???? ****s.

What I understood from the article is that the game retains all turn based features and on top of that, it also has enhanced combat options for those who want to play in a more hack & slashy way.

In all honesty confusing Orcs with Hurlocks is about as hard as Tic-Tac-Toe

because they are essentially the same

Thank you for posting the link OP. I gotta say that I hope they didn't pay that reviewer to actually write that article...I mean damn, what an idiot.

Excuse me Mister Game Review writer...isn't it your job to know the difference? This world is going down hill, what a slackass. The inability to spell the main character's name correctly, as others mentioned, only mirrors the idiocy. No profesisonalism...though, as to the content of the article, it kind of is proving my worst fears. I wish we still had the Bioware of the late 90s where they built upon a successful game instead of gutting them to "streamline" the experience.

My meter is like Dragon Age's, after a while it can't go up anymore.

I think they're better now, all the (p)reviewer said is that while tactical combat is left intact, they added more features for people who may want to hack & slash their way through some parts of the game. Is that bad?

Not that I put ANY FAITH into IGN reveiws but something caught my eye that even they wont lie about (we hope)

We also got to see the new conversation system. Dialogue has been simplified so that you only have up to three choices. Each choice is represented by an icon that indicates whether or it's a "good," "nasty," or "badass" choice. Good choices are represented by an olive branch, nasty by a Greek comedy mask, and badass by a red fist. This is an easy way to gauge what response your dialogue choices will produce.

Hmmmmm, what happened to the "oh the wheel can handle 6 conversation lines fully?".

Im so with you on that.
Normally I dont buy into the big evil EA theories and such but Ive noticed a complete 180 change in Bioware since EA bought them and I miss that ground breaking RPG studio of old that would push the limits and touch on controversial content to make their games better.

Ahhh well, the more I read about DA2, the higher "The Witcher 2" claims in my first buy list!

Ryllen, if you never played the Witcher, check it out on Steam. Playing it now and its very simular to what (quality and standard wise) Bioware use to put out in the 90s!

Plus the Witcher 2 looks kick butt and its Graphics are not cartoony and a drastic change from the first game.

What happened is that it probably can handle 6 lines, but what the (p)reviewers saw only had 3. Where's the contradiction?

Can I point out that as technology improves, games become more expensive to make, longer to develop, and require more and more people working round the clock?

And besides that, most people are absolutely okay with BioWare's games of the 2000s. Just because a few die-hard fans want to see old-school come back doesn't mean we all do.

I agree, we are going from DA:O which does 4-5 dialogue options in most conversations to 3 dialogue options for most conversation in DA2 <_<

Hatfield doesn't cover this side, he doesn't even really care about Dragon Age.  He previewed this because it was at Comic Con, that is all.  Nothing more and nothing less.

Onyett is either not there or he has the week off.

They didn't say those were the only options, they just pointed out that those were some of the options...in any case, read this thread. Devs have already said it's possible to have all six dialogue choices.

Says simplified so you can *only* have *up* to 3 options.
