If you include romances PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make it so we can talk to Companions without romancing like in ME2... Like good god.
This. Choosing to be friends shouldn't mean that the dialogue comes to an abrupt halt. You can be close with someone without wanting to jump their pants.

No, I have to admit the romances are one of my favorite aspects of Bioware games, partly because it's something that sets their games apart from others. That and the great writing. I completely understand why people might be disinterested or put off by them, but they're also totally optional and not in any way necessary to play the rest of the game, so I think even if I hated the romances I would still want them there so others could have the option of experiencing them.
Same goes for me, thanks.

Ditto. Removing them entirely seems pointless and a little backwards. You don't have to experience them; you choose to. Rather than remove them, I'd say improve upon them and the friendship aspect, which I'm sure the writers are doing.

What stopps you from not playing a romance if you dont like it?
Pretty much this.
I never understood people asking for an entire feature to be removed (a popular one for a lot of fans, at that) just because they don't want to. Especially when that feature is OPTIONAL.
You don't want romance in your game? Don't romance your companions. Pretty simple concept when it comes to OPTIONAL (notice how this is capitalized?) features.

A controversial opinion among the Bioware fandom, I know. But I kinda feel like the discussions and kvetching about the various options, who should be, who shouldn't be, etc. overwhelm any other discussion. Not completely, it has to be said, but I dread something like the Tali crazies taking hold over the DA fandom. Thank goodness the "love" was evenly distributed among every character of DA:O...
I realize it is too late at this point, but no harm in making our voices heard as well, just to let the devs know that the dating sim aspect of the games are NOT the main selling point for everyone, and that it might have been refreshing to not have romances in this game?
I´m for homosexual romances. But if this is too controversial for some, then I´d rather have no romances at all than heterosexual ones only.

Now this is just silly, if you don't like the romance options then just don't romance them instead of demanding the removal of all of them because it doesn't suit your tastesTirigon wrote...

Can you just imagine the fan reaction if BioWare released a statement saying "I'm sorry, but due to the controversy of homosexuality in games, we've decided to take the neutral route and remove romance options"?
Can you just feel it?
Besides that, removing heterosexual romances because of lack of homosexual ones is an excellent way to increase animosity between the two groups.

I would like to have better romances, and more friend options. But I wouldn't want to go ten years without even the option of some nookie.

Well remembering the past threads about romances for M/M, F/F, and M/F I'd rather not have people behaving like five year old children just because they didn't get their way so I believe the best consequence is to simply take any chance of romance from both parties to teach them a well needed lesson.
Right...I'm sure that's what BioWare wants to spend all their time and money doing. Teaching us a lesson with their new game.
Like I said, it'd only make things worse: the straights would blame the gays, and some of the gays like having a romance option, even if it doesn't suit their sexuality.

You realize you can just NOT have a relationship with said party members if you choose and you dont HAVE to get "involved" right? So what you're saying is that those that do want the relationships should be punished just because there are a few people who DONT want them when there is clearly already an option for you to avoid said relationships? Sorry, but I dont see that happening.

Well, what I think is, if no romances, then there should deep friendships.
if there ARE romances, an m/m & f/f option(s) should be included.
Isn't that what a romance is? A deeper friendship that you wish to have with the individual?

Hey, I am totally not gay I still when my character is a girl I tend to romance a guy character if there is no likable female companion, in those cases I pick the most childish/funny guy for some reason
In DA1 I had 3 female characters, one romanced Leliana, one noone except the Pirate NPC girl, and the third Alistair
so as you can see for story reasons the same is also true for straight and not just gay people, to play through atleast once like this
Anyway, removing all romances just because a group doesn't like them or the lack of a different kind of romance is silly, they are optional anyway, I may understand it if it weren't optional as in stories which predeterminate that the prince has to marry the princess and become king, but as far we know this is not the case

no, it is nowhere near fair
If gays could demand the elimination of all the romances because the game lacks homosexual romances, then the straight people would have just as much right to demand the removal of romances if homosexual options are included
What's next? The complain about not being able to marry Anora if your character is female?

HELL NO. I want romances. That was a major driving force for me in these games.
I agree, for myself this and the various races and backgrounds made out majority of the game, now without the last two and with the many changes in DA2 a removal of romances would be the last straw for me to make me decide to keep a long distance to the game

That is indeed something that should be fixed, because it sucks. Luckily, there is a mod that allows women to marry Anora.

No romances would make DA2 go from good to amazing. I know they are optional but you often can't really get to know party members without pushing the romances.
No, sorry...no fully voiced PC would do that. The cost is huge and will limit game content far more than anything with the exception of graphics/artists.

Why is it that in 1 of 3 threads you appear in turns into a derailed thread about homosexuals?
nvm, lets get back on topic, which is about ALL kind of romances and not just oone special variant
