And my hero sacrificed himself (for now). So it better be a seperate story in that sequel, if only to disappoint all the wicked people who would give life to a child only to strip it's soul away before it is even born.

I'm surprised all these talks about sequels arn't rallied up and kept in one main thread. Saw another one just earlier today and it has already sank down to pages unknown.

Or to give life back to one of the old gods, uncorrupted by the blight, a god that may deserve worship, rather than the tyranny of the maker cult.

on a side note, EA just announced 1500 layoffs and 12 titles scrapped :S
Yeah, I just saw that this morning when reading the news online. I hope DA:O isn't one of the titles that will be cut

I know EA sucks. But even they aren't stupid enough to scrap anything Bioware makes. They ruined CnC. LEt them not ruin Mass Effect or Dragon Age, otherwise we declare an exalted march on them.

That would be cool, I think. You could then grow up listening to the stories of your character, and meet the other npcs and hear their description of you.
Imagine having Morrigan as your mother...

After what happened...I am not sure I can ever look at Morrigan as my mom.......
That's what Fable III is doing. The main character is the child of the character of Fable II.

Shoot, for that matter, is she even an option for romance if you do not play a Human male?

At least we know for certain that they'll release dlc. Mass effect 2 is out soon too, so I'll be occupied

DLC takes place before the climax battle at the end. BioWare specifically reminds you of this whenever you beat the game. (It saves a copy of your character for you that you can play DLC with but it specifies "Before the Climax end battle")
As such, any DLC added will never be a "sequel" as well it shouldn't (because everyone's ending is different).
Even Morrigan's own story isn't constant enough to put her into a sequel. Is her mother dead or alive? Does she have the Grimoire or no? Does she have a child or no child?
Chances are if we see a DA2 it will be a completely different story set elsewhere on Thedas. We might also see expansions that are separate from the storyline such as NWN: Shadows of Undretide was completely separate from the OC.

I'm curious, since most of the assumption here are based on Human as an origin, what happens when you play a dwarf or an elf? Will Morrigan still want you to be the father of her child?

Morrigan was all over bearing my dwarfy child.

People need to give up on finding Morrigan.
Sharing the same writers for ME2 and DA2 isn't that much of a surprise, BioWare has some of the most talented writers in the gaming industry. If anything, those writers probably write for every BioWare game that comes out.

thanks,I am looking forward to community mods, but really want to continue the story in cannon, yea this is the first game in a long time where I have been going but...but.. that can't be the end!
I hear ya. But they gave you a nice little wrap up at the end. I like that so much better than cut to credits, wait for 10 minutes see if there is a small easter egg at the end
It was a sodding great game (oh noes, I picked up that sodding drunk dorf speach).
Playing concurrently, a Dalish Elf, City Elf (loved the story where she goes berserk in the manor). Naturally, I killed the arl's son for raping my friend
I dont expect to complete more than one more by years end hehe. *I am not completely insane*

Well...I'm sure BW would happily make a sequel to DA, but unlike ME they actually didn't announce DA as a trilogy.
So in the end it comes down to sales.
Let's hope DA sells well so we get a sequal / AddOn (or even better: both)
I've been keeping my fingers crossed that this sells very well.
