will there be a Dragon Age 2?

I know they did carry your decisions into ME2, but let's face it: there were only so many world-changing decisions in that game. Ultimately, more or less the same thing still happens, just with different flavor. It will be a lot harder to do that for DA, which makes me wonder if your PC and the other companions you played with will even feature in a sequel.

Or as the child of Morrigan would be another viable function, since it doesn't seem to matter if the father is human, elf, or dwarf.

1. as Stated above they make it very clear that the DLC is Pre end battle with a little pop up when you load your epilouge save.
2. Your character has a 30 year life span as is stated if you talk to alistair about the taint and how it effects you.So i dont see how they could work you into another story in that short amount of time
3.The simple fact there is a stupid amount of combinations for endings would make it almost imposible to make somthing to please everyone.
4. The ending wrap is is quite comprehensive in all but a few area's and thoese area's are the one where you should be looking for the next story.

I talked to all my party allies in the palace at the end of the game before I left. I think by what they had to say, there will definetely be another DA:O. Perhaps with different characters, but no doubt It will be done.

I mean, they could always just patch another 80 hours of play onto DAO. Back with the BG games, they dident have the technology to do this, which is why their was a BG2.

How about making the Tevinter Imperium the UBG and possibly the source of darkspawn, it was after all, Tevinter mages who was supposed to have started it all and DA2 is just dealing with that. DA3 of course would tie it all up by having the PC finding a way to organise a true Grey Warden army, find a way to get to Tevinter (hence the griffons) and with the help of all the nations, work to destroy the Imperium and the source of all darkspawn once and for all.
Or its all just wishful thinking.

It takes a grey warden to kill a darkspawn, grey and warden each having potential meanings. Grey meaning balance between light and darkness, warden meaning guardian. If a grey warden does not kill the archdemon/false god/old god, then it jumps over to another darkspawn to respawn. Strangely the point most bring up about the 'dark promise', is that morrigan got it from someone, her mother, which she got it from somewhere, which means it may have happened again. Now grey wardens 'think' that when one of them kills the archdemon that it kills both, that may not be so true thanks to morrigan, instead it could make the previous grey warden a newly arisen demigod in another form, waiting for all 7 demigods to arise.
Now once the archlord has been killed, either by your sacrafice or the infant being 'reborn' as an 'old god', both possibly meaning the rebirth in one way or another of an 'old god' as morrigan put it. You now need to remember something Arl Foreshadow said, "Raising Spirits: Offspring and the Fade, Terrible Twos indeed." Compare it to the codex 128 of 'culture and history', the very end saying, "'From the Old Gods Rise Again' by Sister Mary, chantry scholar, 8:50 blessed." According to their steps, this one is the Old God of beauty, Urthemiel. Razikale and Lusacan remain, the ones of mystery and night, hence back to Arl Foreshadow, offspring being the mystery and the Fade at night, aka we sleep and dream at night. Then near the end, it asks a very important question that everyone must wonder when playing it time and again. "When all the old gods have risen and been slain, however, what will happen?" Then we go to the story of the Maker and everything in the dark city being corrupted by the taint.
Don't forget something important, after 30 years, all grey wardens feel the pull to the depths by the taint, what does cause darkspawn and what truly becomes of the grey wardens not failed in taking down archdemons? What has been done and sacraficed to kill these "archdemonds", amongst many of their other names. Kinda reminds me of Baldur's Gate to some extent, in the Bhaalspawn wars to become a 'true god'.
Short point is, I have a feeling this ties in with 128 of religions, arl foreshadow, and other hints throughout the game. Whether the person makes a "dark promise" or sacraficing themselves to kill the archdemon, I don't think the archdemons are dead per se, just reborn in another form and could be just a more sinister scheme to bring back the "old gods" from the depths to wage a true war. What does everyone think?

Don´t get me wrong, I don´t care about the exact figure of the profits, just a confirmation of "yeah, we sold/are selling enough to go on and create a sequel".

I would be pissed if we couldn't continue our characters, royally pissed. If you were a person who sacrificed your characters, then good on you!... they will have an option, I'm sure, to create a brand new one. But yeah, I want to continue my characters tale, not just, he went off searching for Morrigan, never to be heard of again... but he still never found her, major wtf moment that would be.
Sorry to tell you, but she probably killed you, if you were never to be heard from again.
Also i'd be royally pissed if we had to continue our characters. Few games makes this continuity without it being lame. Also i'd rather have some new places to explore, new people to meet.
But luckily there are still years untill the sequel

I remember that as well, it was in a thread though damned if I remember which one. Basiclly he said IF they made a sequel it would most likely not be about another blight, been there done that kind of thing.
