If you've played the first game, or even better, read the books you know that the people of the Dragon Age universe are at least somewhat realistically strong, well for a fantasy setting. I.E Maric and Loghain getting hurt in battle, or the warden getting knocked out if overwhelmed.

However, in the IGN preview they talk about hawke cutting people in two and such. And from the newer concept art it seems like he's capable of feats of unrealistic badassery.

Is anyone else concerned this game might look too much like god of war, and not the more realistic fantasy setting of the first where you didn't send body parts flying with every swing?

I'm just going to add here that one note we're mentioning in the demo but hasn't come up in the thread: the section of the game that we're showing is deliberately over the top, and represents what it is like when someone is "exaggerating" your legend, as per the whole concept of the Frame Narrative.

Concerns that enemies die in one hit are a direct result of Hawke having good PR and thus excesisvely powerful during this part, not because our combat design reads "Hawke kills people in one hit."

In general, it's not a good idea to have people leaving your demonstration feeling like they got their asses kicked. We save that for boss battles in the real game.

ahh, thank you very much for that quote, I wasn't familiar with it. I guess that does put some of my concerns at ease.

Though they should of let those reviewers get their asses kicked.
