I haven't created a custom campaign yet to try this out, but can you move a character from one campaign to another, similar to Neverwinter Nights? I ask because I don't see an Export option for characters in the game.

I do neither, and i highly doubt it´s possible. But it would be very welcome.

Well I certainly hope it can be done. What's the point of building a small campaign if you can't move your character from one to another?
