This thread was created to move the discussion from this thread.

Link

I would like to get this out of the way so it isn't brought up in the thread. The PC gameplay is exactly the same from the information I've gathered. You can still scroll all the way out and play from a top down perspective.

One thing that I was personally interested in was the console gameplay. From the information that the newest IGN article released it sounds like it's exactly the say. There attacks were mapped to three buttons, holding the right trigger would bring of another set of attacks.

I'm curious as to what these changes are that BioWare has made.

Please refrain from insulting others because of their opinion.

Oh gosh, I don't think making this thread was a good idea.

Maybe we should change the topic into "How to improve the Console and PC version" :?

Alright, here's the thing, if this becomes a discussion of Platforms and their pros and cons, it will get locked because Console Pro and Con Discussion doesn't inherently have anything to do whatsoever with Dragon Age 2.

If you can manage to talk about how the two console versions might differ, and still manage to not be insulting of another's preference, and keep Elitism, and overbearing sense of Entitlement out, then it can stay.

I welcome this, as long as it remains a discussion and not a haven for the mentally unstable, the idea is a good one but may be too soon after the previous thread was locked, good luck in that regard.

Maybe consider changing your OP to center the discussion somewhere around what are the strengths and weaknesses of DAO on the PC and XBOX, and how to fix both, .

This cannot be a discussion on how one is inherently better than the other. Thanks for understanding

The fact that they are separating out the development gives me hope that the PC version won't be stripped down like ME2.

Consoles are cool, they are easy ways to play a game, but a PC is more capable, it would be a shame if they lowered the bar to accomodate the different hardware/gamers between the systems.

The console strengths are:

comfortable seating
big screen
analog action based control method

PC strengths:

graphics
hardware (and all the extra stuff you can do with it)
precise controls
nerd gamers who want depth/nerdiness!

I think Bioware is going in the right direction, make the console version more "actiony" and the PC version more traditional RPG.

The pc version was fine, as for the consoles i think it should be about mapping the power keys to make it more controller friendly.

In DAO for the PC, were you guys able to change the camera perspective or were you stuck in From-the-Top view?

Well what i would like to see for the PC version:

*More options for graphics and hotkeys

*The interface remade abit to make it easier to sort by with mouse / keyboard.

*Preferable no "Select #Menu thingy# *load screen / wait for new window to open up... "press right or left to change the option / press yes , no.

What my friend told me (for consoles):

*smoother walk / camera turning

*Try to make a easier way to select things (or more "ways" to select things)

*Faster Loading (if doable)

*More slots for spells / keys abilties (not sure what he meant with this)

We could use the mouse wheel to scroll in and out. (i liked this alot) It allowed us to change tactics and see things from another view point (if units was "outside" the top view camera and so on.

You were also allowed to spin the camera 360 degrees around the character at any distance.

For X Box:

- Lets see some Mods being made available as dlc, user created hairstyles, weapons and armour, these could be paid for DLC, allowing Bioware to run competitions for PC modders with rewards.

Possibly, I know that walls that still remain visible when the camera is close to it will cause problems when trying to get a sneak peak at the enemy.

Definately more hairstyles so none of us would need to mod the game. The hairstyles for females in DAO were horrible, except for morrigans hair but we needed a mod to get that.

With response regarding 360

-I had no problem with the camera & movement on x box, however may be an issue on PS3

-selcting some interactive items could be frustrating, I got quite frustated in Awakenings trying to select blight orfans board rather than blight orfans box for example.

-Faster loading always but the system is as it is, I imagine this is related to the hardware vs graphics engine and how easily one can load up the other.

-More Spell and ability slots are definitely needed, another one at least could be allocated to the a button when the trigger is held, possibly the shoulder buttons too.

I agree. I wonder if we can expect a ludacris number of beards for male Hawke.

In my adventures, walking and camera rotation were fine, so maybe your friend hasn't adjusted sensititvities?

The more accessibility of selecting and assigning spells could easily be remedied if they took a page from Sarced II. Instead of having 2 3slot pages it gave you three 4 slot pages. It allowed every slot to be customizable, while accesing the other pages via the Left Trigger and Right trigger.

I understand how the computer crowd thinks the controler is limited, but what they don't realize is that in Dragon Age didn't really utilize it. Heck, the D-Pad wasn't even used (for all intensive purposes), neglecting a possible 8 other quick controls.

Now of course, there was no innovation used with the console port, but this (in part) wasn't BioWares fault.

The very fact that BW is making/coding the console version will and should make a huge difference.
