I am starting a new character and I wanted to know what classes is the easiest and most powerful build to use for SOZ?  I was planing on using Yuan Ti red dragon disciple/fighter/weapon master type character.  Is this good for SOZ?

Well, you asked about easiest character...

If you want to go with a Yuan-Ti, you should go Ranger, not fighter. It has many advantages - primarily because, until you know what you're doing, having a stealthy, scouting main character will serve you quite well. Also, that's their favored class, isn't it?

Remember, you're going to have four characters. You can make your weapon master #2 etc.

Yes, that's their favored class.

Easiest character? Anything with level 30.

However, SoZ is meant to be played with a party of 4th level characters, so you probably won't find it funny that way.

A good party would be one that covers everything: a scout (ranger, rogue...), a tank/warrior, a healer and a caster. You can make different class combinations, but that's a good start. A class I find very useful in my SoZ parties is warlock, for the infinite casting.

I have a yuan-ti 15 druid/15 stormlord. I thought she'd make an excellent druid, and stormlord would make for an awesome fighter. Right now she is totally sick when it comes to battle. On the overland map I like to use Inshula, and then Belueth when you get her. I've made Inshula a 20 ranger/5 harper agent/5 neverwinter nine, while belueth is 10 rogue/10 assasin/5 shadow thief/5 neverwinter nine. Neverwinter Nine added some cool stats for her instead of going all the way to 15 with assasin, and she's great for the overland map because she's practically invisible even though her speed sucks. Though I cherish my main character, I noticed I specialized my companions quite a bit. Lastri is a 10 swashbuckler/10 duelist/ 10 invisible blade. She is a wicked little halfling.

You can only take a max of 10 levels with PrCs. 5 with Invisible Blade. And really, those aren't good builds (stop Ranger at 20?).

But as I said, it's meant for new characters. If you play with an epic character vs a group of 5th level monsters, it'll be easy, but not very funny.

When you finish with SOZ what level are you and your companions? Also, for your first character does it have to be a ranger or rogue with skill in hide, listen, move Silently, open lock, search, spot, survival, and tumble for the overland map? Because I want melee tank for my first character.

Usually you end at level 15-20, but you can go all the way to 30.

You should make the OM leader the first character, because the game selects the first character everytime you go to the OM, so if you have a non-stealthy character in the first slot, you can run into some undesired encounters. And you don't lose nothing for having a tank in one of the other slots, you have all them since the beginning and everyone at the same level, so there's no reason for it.

The main OM skills are: Spot OR Listen, Hide OR Move Silently, Search and Survival. Almost every skill has some use, but those are the most important.

Oh, I didn't know about the 10 level limit on prestige (gay you could take as many as you wanted in NWN1) but the companion prestige classes I gave are working out great I wouldn't say they're bad builds at all. What is wrong with a level 20 ranger?

Rangers get their best abilities at level 21, so you shouldn't stop at 20. If you're not going for 21 levels, you could stop several levels earlier.

I'm not saying you need to powerbuild, but that single level can make a big difference.

My fav SoZ party goes something like this:
NTB's SoZ Party Leader - Rogue(30) : http://nwn2db.com/bu...14690&version=1
Peanut Picard - Warlock(30) : http://nwn2db.com/bu...id=71&version=1
Wood Elf Cleric with Animal and Earth Domain and Dino Companion(Grey Orc Example http://nwn2db.com/bu...13456&version=1)
Wood Elf Cleric with Animal and Plant Domain and Dino Companion
Umoja
Septimund

One cleric gets craft weapon skill and the other gets craft armor skill.  One cleric gets diplomacy.

I created a fighter (WM scimitar), a multi ranger/rogue, a cleric and a sorcerer.  I took none of the npc's offered.
The party rocked all the way to the top and finished at level 22 on average.
IMO you need to not over think these things. Play what you want to play but build sensibly (give your fighter high strength etc). Then you can have some fun. Like ... building a party full of clerics for instance Posted Image.

You could still only take 10 levels in a PrC in NWN1 until you got to L21+ in a non-PrC, IIRC. Presumably, NWN2 would work the same if it had a higher level cap, because at L30 it's not possible to get more than 20 levels in one class and have space for more than 10 in a PrC.

As for best SoZ character, I wouldn't really know 'cos I've never played it, though if I can find somewhere which'll sell it at a decent price I intend to get it sometime soon so I've been thinking about builds for it a bit. Certainly warlocks are meant to be better in SoZ than normal (though with the prospect of getting less than 20 levels they'll probably have even less invocations to play with). Clerics are basically always good, though personally I'm not that keen. With the Yuan-ti newly available, though, making a yuan-ti ranger for the OM is pretty popular (I was wondering rogue/ranger with loads of skills, maybe rogue 3/swash 3 for free weapon finesse and insightful strike, or I guess if you were going str-based you could do the whole bard 1/RDD 10 thing).

Nope. In NWN1 you can only take 10 levels in a PrC before your character goes epic. After CHARACTER level 20 you can take as many levels in most PrCs, as you desired (since 40 levels is the cap, you can have a maximum of 30 levels in a PrC).

I chose a human wizard. I chose human because I wanted to be a Red Wizard. I also chose to solo the game. This was insanely difficult at first (especially on the beach) but the benefit is you get an insane amount of experience points for overland encounters (assuming you survive). You gain levels quickly and by the time you reach the sword coast, you can blow up pretty much anything!

So I guess a solo wizard is not the easiest, but it is pretty powerful.

But, a party of six has 6 times as many attacks as well as other perks. It's powerful to.

There is also the complimentary use of spells for buffing and disabling.  A wizard is very powerful when combined with a figher.  The wizard holds them up and the fighter knocks them down.

I think in general a party is going to be stronger.  I usually solo because I like the challenge.  All the profesionally done mods are usually ridiculously easy.

There are some Druid builds in nwn2db meant for soloing SoZ, if someone's interested. Example:

http://nwn2db.com/bu...=7677&version=1

It has HiPS and can use arcane scrolls. If I was going to play it, I'd probably take the Dino Companion feat. It doesn't have Open Locks and Disable Device, though.

I started a solo Rogue/Swash/EK some time ago, but I got bored and never finished it.

For a party, I like something like:

-Archery Ranger/Rogue or Rogue/AA (OM leader)

-Warlock (with Flee the Scene as one of its invocations, and Tentacles are good for SoZ, too)

-Cleric with Animal domain and Dino

-The last slot can be filled with an arcane caster, a tank, a Bard...

If I would restart that game, I would probably go with something like:

- Halfdrow Rogue 1/Bard Skilluser/Leader
- Gray Dwarf Fighter Dwarven Defender Tank
- Drow Favored Soul Healer
- Human Wizard / Red Wizard of Thay Evoker Nuker
