Eventually, I played OVERLORD DLC. And (to no surprise) it SUCKED.

I feel Overlord simply shows the inherent suckiness of DLC. It's essentially; short, highly linear, repetitive and for me it was dull.
For Overlord to be a success for me it needed more than shoot your way to point A, press a button, shoot your way to point B, press a button, shoot your way to point C, press a button.
I feel this is the quality of product you will get when you're forced to adere to tight deadlines and salami publishing techniques (for anyone who doesn't get the reference, it's a method of releasing a lot of scientific papers which in effect would be better served as a single, grander paper).
RPGs in general don't benefit from a glut of small additions, instead they do well with larger plot driven sequels.
Take telltale games Monkey Island serial they published last year. 2-3 hours of gameplay per month in a 6 month package. You could buy individual episodes or you could buy the whole thing up front.
In essence that is a perfect model to base Bioware DLCs, you're not forced into trying to cram the entire story arch into a few hours.
I feel they wont do this however, because episodic content is a lot of consistent work. If ME2 was a movie, episodic DLC would be a TV show.

I dunno, theres the beginning of a horror movie in Peak 15, going to a Secret Research lab deep in the mountains. when you arrive the staff are all dead, then you discover all kinds of horrific science experiments.wiggles89 wrote...
Arguing Peak 15 was creepy is like listening to Loveless & saying you heard a great rap album.

I'd disagree on principle as I actually found the horror element utterly undermined by several design choices made, but that's neither here nor there. Creepy in terms of ick-factor I can agree on, though.Raxxman wrote...

I'm not saying there aren't horror movie elements in Peak 15. The point is that at no point whatsoever does the game ever create a creepy environment. One reason is that, like another poster mentioned, it's far too heavy on the action side of things to allow for a creepy atmosphere to build. A couple of other reasons is that the isolation of the situation is never truly capitalised upon & there's never any suspense built.
Or maybe I'm analysing it incorrectly. It sure didn't resonate with me as a creepy mission, though.

Actually that takes balls, especially if you find you're in the minority, and you don't find it "great", and the raving fanboys can't put together a cohesive argument. One of the few reasons.
(Arguably I have no idea what Zuli is talking of half the time when he explains things, but his points are still valid.)

And general forums hoppers, even those with a grudge against a poster, are going to spend that time and, if necessary, money and whetever else is needed to just to find out who someone is and where they live? So they can do what, go all Jay and Silent Bob on some kid?

Right, silly me, having the honesty to write an opinion which you know won't be popular and everyone will call you a series of names because they never thought that way, and it's easier for them to attack you personally as opposed to having an intelligent discussion over.Kroesis- wrote...

Because all want to invite morons to our inbox. Doesn't take balls at all to sift through even more crap one is ultimately asking for.

Precisely. Damn, being called names by some faceless forumite! It takes no balls to write an opinion even if you know you'll get flamed by it or crap in your in-box. They're only words written to an online persona. It's easy to ignore and delete.
