Rogue; most versatile class, IMO. Mage comes in next, mainly because I stay with the spells I already know rather than try new ones.

Rogue. Nothing cooler than a rogue that's as effective in combat as a warrior without being a giant block of metal.

Definitely the Rogue! They're so cool! Stealth mode is pretty awesome. Also, lockpicking!
But there's already a few other threads about this. Are you sure we need another one?

My main character on my xbox is a Dalish Rogue. I'm playing through a 2h-warrior on my PC version, it's nowhere near as fun. :|, I'm so tempted to make another rogue but I'm determined to make this warrior enjoyable.

Also rogue. I hate locked boxes for one thing. It annoys me when I can't open them. And I like the versatility and sneaking around.

Rogue. Even if I know the chest only has a pair of gloves in it, I still need to open it.

Initially, Rogue, but I've acquired an appreciation for all classes.
A rogue can do so much but only has one fatal weakness - spells; that's why, always kill the enemy mage FIRST. Stealth up behind the mage and stabbity-stabbity-stabbity-dead!!! Only problem with that is when there's more than one mage. I do so hate Crushing Prison or Curse of Mortality! High Defense is no defense against those spells.

Lots of love here for Rogues - but for me it is a two hand warrior. Nothing like charging right into a room and hitting a 2 Hand Sweep! Watch the huge damage numbers fly along with all the badies. Then laugh as everyone gets up to attack and you send the whole mess flying again with War Cry. Only thing funner then that is having two 2 Hand Warriors start chaining Sweep/War Cry. Who needs a mage for CC.

Probably Shapeshifter Mage for fun, or Dual Sword Rogue.

In all previous games I've played, my preference has been the rogues/thieves class, for the versatility. A little bit of fighting skills, a little bit of magic powers, light armor instead of heavy, with assassin techniques, backstabbing, pocket-picking, thieving from chests and cupboards, lock picking, sneaking to avoid detection, etc. Warriors and mages were too one-sided, and not so versatile.
In this game the mage class and the warrior class have been better designed and mages come a very close second to the rogue, for fun. But there's nothing like being a rogue!

The Mage. Reasons: Shiny spells, AoE pwnage.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing an entire room of mobs going kaboom in a flash of light.
Rogue? meh. Lets face it, the rogue is just a portable lockpick box.

I'm in the Rogue crowd. I generally prefer to play Rogue/Scout kinda toons, and DA is no exception. I have tried the other classes but find myself severely frustrated by the many locked chests that are inaccessible since I don't have a Rogue in my party until Lothering. Not to mention the whole trap issue... no matter what trap skills I give my warrior or mage, nor how high my cunning, disarming traps seems next to impossible if I'm not playin' a Rogue or at least have one in my party.

Rogue. Mainly for the open locks ability and other abilities already mentioned. I can build them up to be a hard hitting fighter that specializes in dual wielding weapons.

I'm a rogue fan too for all the reasons mentioned above. I still enjoyed my 2h warrior more than I had expected, though..Visually huge axes are probably the coolest weapons in the game. As a mage I have to be a damage dealer and not a healer or (de)buffer to find it fun.

Tie:
1a) dex dual weapon rogue - easy and fun
1b) primalist shapeshifter - tricky and fun

Rogue. I love being able to go into a room, take out all the traps, unlock everything, and sneak out again before I set the rest of my party on the baddies inside. Plus, you can get in and dirty with enemies, and get out before they can touch you. And there's something about kicking a giant spider in the face that's deeply satisfying... It was also wonderful to go back to being light and fleet after my one achievement-driven playthrough as an awkward, shuffling two-hander.

Rouges die all the time on Nigthmare. Mges are the best class but i prefer Warrior.
it dosent sound very grey warden runing around with two daggers and a leather armor.

I too am parading on the rogue bandwagon for most all the reasons others have expounded as well as the fact that their usual high cunning and abundance of points to spend (more than any other class) makes them the best option for any sort of diplomat or talker of any sort in general.
In a game where ONLY the PC has any real influence on dialoges this can be a huge advantage (and lots of fun)!

Rogue, either as a Bowman or Dual Wielder. They're both my style of play, even from before DA. I mean in KOTOR, I was a smuggler. then dual wield Jedi. And even to table top RPG's. prefer highly mobile, edge of the action type characters.

I'm kinda split, though if I had to pick, I'd probably say mage. It's awesome being able to control the battlefield, and many battles that were tough while playing as a warrior were a walk in the park for my mage.
My close second is a templar, because I'm a big fan of knights and fighting in heavy armor with a sword and shield.
