Rogues are the best overall. I max out the lockpicking so I don't need Leilana (archers are OK, but it's best to have 3 hand-to-hand fighters plus one mage). Rogues can also specialize as either a Ranger (summoned animals are a big help) or a Legionnaire (that orange aura that treats stamina like health really helps).

I like playing as a rogue but the more I play the game, I find I can't play anything but mages. The flexibility in the origin story and variety in talents allows you to go many different directions. Plus it's a lot more fun to blow people up than hack them to death one by one.

cleric/thief. Oh wait...this is the dragon age forum..woops..err..umm..
Rogue, single dagger, full rogue talents, poison and trap making and coercion...no weapon talents if I can help it. Bard and assassin specialization. Very fun, not very efficient or practical...but that's the point.

Duel wield warrior . . . . .I so like to cut things up.
But locked boxes/rooms ALWAYS ****** me off . . . . so I do go rogue occassionally.

Hahaha!! SOOO many people under estimating the might of a warrior who cannot be knocked off the ground and on his backside!! Clearly you know my favorite class based on context but the reason is unclear to some:
Warriors do not rely on speed. for they contain powers greater than being able to counter attacks, throw cheap grenades, and hide in the shadows for a decent first strike; they have the abilities to crowd control, pierce armor, finish off most enemies before they have a REAL chance to fight back (for those who prefer power over speed), enjoy the fun of front line in-your-face combat, MOST messy kills for those who appreciate special cinematics, AND last but certainly not least the ability to intimidate others who get in your way!
Warriors are the epitome (of the three) for most films, Don't agree with me? LOTR, D&D, and more. Granted they may have not been done well, at least D&D, but there is a reason why they are. Warriors tend to be versatile themselves if you allow them to be, what with long range attacks as a Templar or even better by archery, as well as your traditional peerless close combat expertise.
And let's not forget the awesome looking plate as well as war cries, and wielding a weapon as gigantic and as legendary as those who stood against enemies long ago! Warriors don't need to run, they don't need to hide (like some failed rogues) and they don't die in one or two hits (sorry cloth mages) What's NOT to appreciate about a warrior other than that they might not necessarily be the quickest? Oh wait.... Dual wielding matches that

man, who cares about versatility, get leliana or zevran and your team is versatile. Mine is arcane warrior/bloodmage. Nothing like having the archdemon hit less than 20's on you, in nightmare. Best combo ever: get all enemies to attract to you, blood wound to disable them, then virulent walking bomb.... BLOOD GORGED SCREEN!!! if there were limb seperation in this game, there would've been limbs everywhere. The 7 darkspawn attacking me, dead within 10 seconds. They did the total of 9 damage on me, while blood magic did 90 on me. You just can't beat that, i know warrior and rogues have their fancy sword moves, but when it comes to utter destruction, blood mage/arcane warrior just can't be beat. Its like bruce willis going yipee kai yay mutha****a vs jacky chan doing his fancy moves, which one kills the most in the end it it for me. MAGE WITH MASSIVE ARMOR BABY!!!!!!!!

Warrior.
Step one: Pick a target in the middle of the enemy horde.
Step two: Smash way to enemy center. Kill target.
Step three: Kill your way out.
And as a final note: I still object heratily that my 50+ strength warrior isn't allowed to bash in doors and chests. As any D&D player can tell you, the warrior's gauntleted fist / armored shoulder / plated boot is a universal lockpick.

You know, I think it's the rogue - and that's the opposite of how I feel in most RPGs. DAO rogues are so flexible. (Insert Zevran joke here.) I'm not much for sneaking around backstabbing foes, but there's so much more to them than that in this game.

Mage. In earlier games of Bioware I could explain it more easily. There's a ton of different things to do as a mage.
I wouldn;t be too adverse in trying a different class in DAO because all those effects warriors and rogues have feel a bit like spells.
But mage. Power, diversity, very cool spell effects and so many things you can do. In DAO they are limited however.

My favourite is the 2h warrior because of the damage they deal. If you focus on strength, dexterity and constitution then you can't go wrong. Also, they look so cool. Thanks everyone for replying!

I'm definately in the rogue camp, I find it the most fun class to play for reasons mentioned throughout this thread, Mage is second, playing a EM just now. I really don't enjoy being a warrior so much.

Rogue, first and foremost. I'm a DPS ****, always have been, always will be.
Dual-wielding warriors can be fun too, but it's very similar to roguing.

I always love a game with a rogue class...so it's pretty hard not to go that route. I do love mages, so they tie for me. If I could make a dual class rogue/mage, I would be set but...no luck yet. Warriors are alright, but my rogue basicly did everything my warrior did and more so it wasn't quite as fun for me in combat situations. All my characters were equally fun from the story vantage point though!

Definitely 2H warrior for me, preferably in light or medium armor, with Arcane warrior a close 2nd choice.
My first successful playthrough was as a rogue though.

Rogue no doubt, Right now I'm playing a Rogue/Ranger and have found a new love for archery..nothing is more fun than one-hit killing a mage with a arrow of slaying.

Mages are too easy. AW/BM is just rigged, so much so that it's not any fun.
Rogues are a hell of a lot of fun, just as long as you don't have any mages in your party - healing the rogues makes them way overpowered too...

Rogue. Versatile with stealth and lock-picking; you can disable and debuff, but you can also attack like nobody's business. And, if you choose your abilities properly, it takes a very lucky opponent to hit you. Really makes my character feel like the queen of the battefield.

Mage all the way. I do, however, have an appreciation for Rogues as well (especially Bards and Rangers).

I think all classes are great because they have all their own charm but my favourite one is the mage. I like the coulors on my screen when they perform magic. :-)
