In DAO  the hand, foot, and helmets could be mixed matched but never the upper and lower body armor or clothing. Will things be different in DA2? I hope torso armor and leg armor will be seperate parts. I remember getting an armor ( I think it was called Plate of Divergence ) a couple days ago and the aromor itself was awesome.......but the hideious brown checkered pants that came with it killed the entire look...so I just sold it lol If I could have rid myself of those awful pants my lady Warden could have had a nice plated dress....thingy. It would have looked nice too.

I hope so. Bioware should look at other RPGs which allow you to chose what to wear for your torso, belt, fingers (Not just two rings), legs, feet and hands and head. A cape would be good as would that clothing that the default Hawke is wearing on his trousers (The clothing that is attached to his belt from behind and is flying about). Better yet, Bioware should allow us to customize what our armor looks like, like they allowed in NWN. Hopefully we do have such choices. It looks as though Hawke does have a cape..so maybe we do have more armor choices...

I just want to know how the inventory and armor in general will be handled- is it going to be streamlined like ME2? Will we even have a robust inventory like Origins and will we be able to still mix and match armor and other items? Maybe its an irrational fear, but given how the little info we've had released thus far takes DA in a ME direction, I am concerned...

I am not generally that much fond that DA seems to become some degree more like Mass Effect, but the option to customize your armor is one i would love to see importet. You could also buy specific crests in Awakening. I would love to see this idea of customization further developed, beyond the limits of ME 2 so that you cannot only change color, but design, style and the appearance in general. And please do something about the helmets, i never wear one, they looked outright ridiculous in Origins and Awakening.

I a hoping for dear LIFE that DA2 doesn't get the ME2 treatment in terms of customization! I love ME2 but the armor customization failed. Hopefully DA2 will have plentiful armor and clothing options, maybe even others.

I'd be perfectly fine with an inventory system like ME2's so long as there is variety in both colors and and models.  I was excited about ME2's customization system until I found out that there were only 3 patterns and there were few color combinations that looked good and didn't make you look like one of the three Mercenary groups.

ME2 simply lacked a wide selection of armor, but for the N7/base game armor parts, you did have the ability to change their colors and patterns.

But I doubt they'll allow as much customization as was possible in RTW's trainwreck of a game (APB).

I wouldn't mind seeing a ME2-style armor customization feature in DA2. I really liked ME2's system, actually. It allowed you to mix and match various armor components as you saw fit, based on the bonuses they provide, while still keeping your character's overall look aesthetically coherent.

DAO, unfortunately, penalizes you for mixing and matching. Not only do mismatched pieces make you look ridiculous, but you also miss out on set bonuses. The most annoying part is that it discourages use of unique armor pieces that aren't part of a set.

I love the ability to customize shields with whatever heraldry you want in DAA. Overall, I still think DAO is superior to DAA in every way that matters, but having tasted shield heraldry customization in DAA, I find myself missing it -- a lot -- when I replay DAO.

Heraldry was cool, but they better not gimp the inventory or armor customization. Dammit man, if I want Morrigan in massive armor, I'll put Morrigan in massive armor!

Yes, this very much.

I will be deeply disappointed if I can't assign my team's combat apparel.  If I was a a high-strung adventurer with a set of friends I'd either force them to wear armor or I'd give them a good reason to.

You'll probably only get 1 set of armor but they'll give you the option for more in dlc.

And charge you an extra $5.

Then I'd have to combat the Bioware DLC Defense Force, again, and explain why it's such a big deal, only to have them respond with "don't like, don't buy", while totally avoiding the fact that neither Bioware or them can justify the price.

What really burns my bagel is that the original, DLC-free game is actually designed to feel incomplete without DLC. You can start of the Return to Ostagar, Stone Prisoner, and Warden's Peak quests without installing their respective DLCs, you just can't finish them. I don't object to charging for DLC in principle, but something about being so blatantly manipulated into buying it rubs me the wrong way.

(Unfortuntately, it totally worked. I probably wouldn't have bought the DLC if I hadn't been so blatantly manipulated into it. But I was, and I did. Sigh...)
