I decided to play through ME1 again for a new Shepard for ME2.

Outside
the Normandy the game is fine. However, every time I enter conversation
with Liara or Kaiden on the Normandy the game "stops".

It isn't
freezing. What I mean by stop, is the game goes into it's conversation
mode, the ambient sounds are playing, the characters idle animations, I can even access the pause menu (but can't save), but the
dialog wheel doesn't pop up and I can't move or interact with anything.

By the way disinstalling reinstalling patches and game dosen't work.

My config is a Windows XP SP3 32bit and the Mass effect game is on DVD

Are you using the Enter key? Try using the other interaction key (E by default) if you haven't already.

Thanks alot... Though I do feel kinda stupid for not thinking of that... XD

*shrug* No reason you should have from where I'm sitting, it's a bug - both keys should work. In pracitece though, the Enter key does seem to have a few problems in ME1. One being the occasional conversation bug, the other being that it often does a double-tap when it does work.
