Given the rushed development I doubt it'll be as long as DAO.
This is what I'm thinking as well... sadly I don't see it being anywhere near DA:O's length if you took your time (some people managed 80+ hours!)

Well... the thing is, this isn't Valve (lololol Valve time) or Blizzard or the Bioware of old, this is EA and they have a history of making sure their games are on schedule, by any means necessary...

DAO was delayed twice.

But as said, it's voiced, and ME2 took me almost 30 hrs to beat so...

DA:O was in development for more than 5 years, DA 2 will be out in less than a year, plus we have a voiced character now, so I can't see how Hawke is going to have so many lines for let's say a 100+ hours game. My guess is that DA 2 will be much shorter than DAO.
Actually, if you count the number of lines, Shepard says more than the Warden (due to the 65 character limit). What VO cuts into is all of the side conversation with minor characters (like all the voiced guards) because of disk-space, cost, etc.
Still, I do think DA2 will be shorter than DA. But DA was only a 60 hour game. So for DA2 to be a 40hr game, that's not shabby.

ROFL, loved DA:O but you can keep saying its a 60 hour game, it will be as untrue this time as the last time you said it.
Average time playing when game released was 35 hours (but with excellent replayability)
Based on recent Bioware lenght of products, DA2 will be 30 hours and lack the replayability DA:O had.
If you look at Awakening and the DLC, Bioware is pricing its stuff at around $2.50-$3.00 for every hour of content!

The bold is your own wild speculation.
And all my playthroughs were above 35 hours. I listen to all conversations, die frequently, reload to make different decisions, talk to my companions for random reasons, explore, and read the codex over, and over, and over.

That being said, I'll be happy if DA2 manages even 50 hours of content.

(sighs) this always happens with Bioware products.
The bulk of people post the 30-35 hour range (except for JE which was insanely shorter) and then year after the fact we start hearing about 60, 61, 200 hours.
Doesnt change fact that the bulk of players that posted after game released were finishing game in the 35 hour area! Go look it up!
BTW: 35 hours is pretty regular for RPGs now adays so its not a insult at Bioware, its just the truth with out the fanboi spin.
Gorm, sorry you cant do math man, you tell me whats the cost ratio of 2.25 hours at $7.50 (lelinnas song), 1.5 hours at $7.50 (RtO), 17 hours at $40.00 (awakening)
As I said (NOT OPINION! FACT) Bioware been pricing its stuff in the $2.50-$3.00/hour range
Damn I get tired of these blind fanbois. "Oh no, he said something that while true, wasnt total and complete devotion, ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK! Hurry make up anything that sounds even remotely feasible to counter his statement"
Grow up already

Been following the earlier coverage on Dragon Age 2 and things are looking pretty interesting! Can anyone comment on the general length of DA2? I know that, depending on the player, an estimate of the number of hours could greatly vary. However, can we an expect an experience, or the amount of content, to be relatively on par with Origins? Less? More? (Hopefully, more..... not that I'm greedy or anything.)
Thanks!
lets hope they can answer this earlier than when they did with DA:O

First of all, I was not commenting on your pricing comment, just what you said about DA2 being 30 hours and having no repeatability. Sorry if it was confusing.
Second of all, get over yourself, I did not attack you, nor do I myself have complete devotion to BioWare. But people like you wildly speculating about things only adds to the absolute chaos on these forums lately, and just gets even more people panicked and worried. We just do NOT know a lot about this game yet, and for you to say that DA2 will be 30 hours has no basis, whatsoever. DLC prices and time are not representative of full games and their prices. If that was the case, then Dragon Age would have been $100, because it is, on average, a 50 hour-long game. And btw, did you really expect small DLCs to be less than $5? Really? I mean, Awakening was overpriced, so was the Stone Prisoner. Everything else was expected tbh.
In fact, sir, imo, it is you that has to grow up, calm down, and present your views in a reasonable way, as many posters do. A lot of people do have legitimate concerns, as do I, and I respect that. I do not respect jumping to conclusions, however.

Seriously though, my first playthrough in DAO (for PC) was more than 100 hours, (including DLCs, all sidequests completed, hard difficulty from beginning to the end, ending at 24 lvl and taking my time to explore and discover the game in detail). I wasn't in a hurry and I didn't want the game to end. That's how I play RPGs I like. Others play differently so I speak for myself only.
As another guy from this thread said, if DA 2 manages with my playstyle to deliver around 50 hours of quality content, I'll be satisfied too. Bioware has less than a year to release this game after all, so I don't expect something as huge, rich and complex as Origins.

Longer doesn't always equal better. Remember the Fade quest that took about three hours to finish? Imagine a quest like that, but it involves running through dungeon halls for 9 hours.Gyldensted wrote...

I've been hearing that it's longer, but I don't really know. Somewhere (an article of some kind) said it was three times longer but I find that hard to believe. Who knows?
Three times longer!! Yes, please.
I don't want a game that takes up too much of my life. My cutoff limit is 50 hours. After that, I get bored with a game. Well, except Elder Scrolls games, for some reason. I have about 600 hours between Morrowind and Oblivion.

So I'd guess DA2 might drop somewhere at the 60h range, though I can't help myself hoping that it'll be as long or even longer than Origins, despite everything.

Agree. There is no way for them to put as much content as previous title in about 2 years on 3 platforms.

There's nothing "bull****" about it. Think about it, what would I gain from bragging/lying that I have played the game for that long? It's not like it's a great achievement or anything. I played well over 200 hours (although I spread it out over a long period of time). In fact, I just re-checked my save at the end of the game (post-coronation) and my time up to that point was exactly 346:39:03. How do you like them apples?
I'd put pictures up of it if I could but I have no clue how to do so on a Vista... or any other computer for that matter. I could take a photo of it with my camera I suppose, but then I'm not entirely sure how I'd upload it to the comp. . Yeah, I'm hopeless with technology. :/

I cannot comprehend how you managed that, other than by leaving your computer on for lengthy periods of times without doing anything. It's just...there just isn't that much content in the game. I'm boggled.
