After all, for each 'choice' you have in DA2, they will, when it all boils down, be two.  The 'good' choice and the 'evil' choice.  Despite BioWare having taken out any morality meter, they still cling to the whole black/white approach on the whole. .

Which is why I suspect I'll get two playthroughs out of it - once "good" and once "evil".  In DA:O you always ended up with the same ending (aside from the decision as to whether or not you sacrificed yourself) so there was no distinction between a Good or Bad person - supposedly DA2 is more character centered than its predecessor.

I would be quite surprised (pleasently so, but still surprised) if the game length is more than 25-30 hours. I just dont see how Bioware would be able to create a RPG with a stronger narrative (as they claim they are doing) and at the same time with the same length as Origins, all in less than 18 months.

Been following the earlier coverage on Dragon Age 2 and things are looking pretty interesting! Can anyone comment on the general length of DA2? I know that, depending on the player, an estimate of the number of hours could greatly vary. However, can we an expect an experience, or the amount of content, to be relatively on par with Origins? Less? More? (Hopefully, more..... not that I'm greedy or anything.:P)

Thanks!

You should never bet on something that you cannot afford to lose. Posted Image

Considering there's no toolset this time, hopefully there will be more gameplay. I demand a length of a decade as in the game description!! I kid i ikid.

I'm currently at about the 100 hour mark in Dragon Age: Origins (and still have a lot to do, it seems). However, I do find that these 100+ hour games are the way of the past, since I simply don't have the time anymore to play games that are that long. There are several reasons why this is, one of them being that I'm busy with real life, e.g. working and other stuff. The length of DA2 will probably be around 25-40 hours for the main quest, then maybe the same for the sidequests. This is just a qualified guess, but it shouldn't stray far from the actual numbers, I think.

As for the actual length, I think there's someone at speeddemoarchive that has finished DA: Origins in about 2½ hours? And someone at the sameplace did finish Fallout 1 in about 10 minutes or so; length is always a subjective matter, especially as people tend to have different playstyles. I, for example, am

a completionist, but there seems nonetheless to be a bunch of quest that I've missed in this my first playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins.

In short: I don't mind Dragon Age 2 to be a bit shorter (or even a lot shorter) than DA: Origins, around the 50-60 hour mark in total.

Bioware never made a "short" game. Short by Bioware standards is nowhere near short by industry standards.

They were working on the entire storyline even while developing Origins and they said that once they started work on DA2 they knew exactly what they were doing.

It's true -- we had a much clearer plan when we started DA2 than we did when starting, say, Origins.

However, please don't necro old threads.
