You know, there was very little swearing in DAO, which was a good thing--I heard bastard quite a few times, but in the literal sense. So, when you ask Alistair about Morrigan, and he responds by saying "she's a complete and utter b*tch" with such spite and venom, it not only gets a laugh, it convinces me he really doesn't like her.

Exactly, I was trying to remember the exact wording of that quote myself but you've got it right. I love how we learned SO much from one simple line, if there was ANY doubt about how one character felt about another that certainly cleared the air. Not to mention I was mildly surprised that a boy who had grown up in the Chantry could talk like that ;)

I'm a big fan of using strong language when it's necessary so that it has more of an impact and I think Origins was fairly spot on (and I even like how exaggerated Oghren's lines were, it fit in very well without feeling too over the top).

I demand Deadwood style profanity in DA2. Posted Image

Like this?

Writing the entire game in iambic pentameter would be tough. Thankfully f***, f***ing and m*****f***er provide a nice set of 1, 2 and 3-syllable words for you to use. Posted Image

And yes, I also demand Ian McShane be somewhere in DA2. That man is epic beyond words.

Stop! Don't make me drool. A dwarven Ian McShane might cause my head to explode.

EDIT: Fixed link, okay? Stop getting on my goddamned case.

Dude what?! The Man should be a Qunari.

Sure, for the right character. But having an abundance of profanity in the grimy, slummy areas of Thedas wouldn't detract from the impact of Alistair -- chantry boy, ever-so-polite Alistair -- saying "b****". It's really not a case of "one or the other".

None of the main characters have to be big on swearing. In fact I'd prefer if they weren't.

Commoner:
 *swears*
Oghren: Watch your stinkin' mouth, nughumper!
Commoner: You wot?
Oghren: You heard me, ya overgrown duster. Put a stone in it!
Warden: Wait. *You* don't approve of bad language? You!?
Oghren: Of course not! My ma raised a gentleman. *belch*
