This is a brain storming session to decide what we want a new off game will be.  We can take the suggestion with the most support and have a poll for the new one, hopefully with Moderator approval.

I agree. As much as I love the "person above" game a brand new game would be most likely to get accepted. So let's think. We love the person above and discussing. We like numbers too!

First thing you should know, full stop... is that most "person above you" ideas are not going to fly. I'm not going to deny you the chance to brain storm ideas. That said, the big problem with these threads is they are *extremely* random. There is no real rhyme or reason to most of the posts. This is especially true of the ban threads, but this new naming one was little better. Post after post of random commentary is essentially a combination of spam and chatter. These threads weren't as bad when they began during BSN's infancy, but as time went on they took a gradual dip and all the new versions aren't any better.

I ask no one resurrect those threads again. The next person who creates one of the locked "X person above you" threads is going to get temp-banned.

When you think of a game, try to come up with something creative. It can be complex and methodical or it can be simple and clever like the post counting with pictures thread. If the "game" is nothing but a vehicle for anyone to post and post... and post and post some more without need to put in over a second's thought into their post, it's almost surely going to end up locked.

Keep that in mind before starting any game, and if you really want to minimize any chances it will be locked, pitch it to Stanley Woo first.

What about comic book wars? One person starts by posting a comic book character. The next person posts another comic book character and describes how they would defeat the first. The process continues.

Honestly the post counting with pictures thread seems very much like spam right now there is nothing creative at all about it. right now all it has in it is pictures with numbers how creative. I thought it was going to be like for example your on the number 23 and they post a picture of Jim Carry Because He stared in the movie 23, not the number is 23 and the person post an image of the number on a sing or book or something.

I like the games that involve coming up with funny and creative one liners, or that involve some type of puzzle.

Comic book wars sounds interesting

We know Woo is into comics, so he might have a soft spot for some of the characters and let us get away wih it. He might even join in.

Elaborate defeats and/or deaths has a ring about it.:)

@Celrath - I haven't taken a look at it in a long while. If what you write is true then maybe it's time to close it. That's a parallel issue, actually. The really long running games start to go, for want of a better term, off message. Games with an end point are less prone to this since they get to start fresh.

Funny and creative one liner games are unlikely to fly for the reasons mentioned in my previous post. I'm not saying they're *impossible*, but it can't simply be something like "post funny one liners". Puzzle based could possibly work.

The problem with the post counting game is that we're up to 696 last I checked. It's rather hard coming up with an image that relates to a number that high. Most people are either bored or are settling for comic book covers and highway numbers.

What about riddles? Those are always fun. But people would just google them.

Maybe we could make up our own? Make them about the site, and the people on it?

Well I had an interesting image actually. Okay, maybe not that interesting....
Image IPB
...back to the topic at hand: Two ideas that are minimally better than the 696 cat.
1000 blank cards, Clue(Cluedo). Clue I have formatted to forum play before and 100o blank cards I have never played, but it is random enough a game to begin with that I doubt it would fail to work in a forum.

I'm up for almost anything as long as it will play out and not get locked.

Thats why I made this, I would really like a clear understanding of what the mods allow and what they don't. This way they can give there input on our ideas

Clue is a clasic board game, see rules here to get general idea.
http://www.cs.nmsu.e.../ClueRules.html
How the lack of dice rolling is overcome is by simply allowing players to move to an adjacent room once per turn (or using one of the secret passages) and making a suggestion. The board itself can be done either as a table or ASCII image.

1000 blank White cards is quite hard to explain due to its abstract nature. "The Rules" can be found here
http://en.wikipedia....ank_White_Cards
To me it seems tailor made for the Off Topic denizens.

How about the "Guess that Picture" game? The rules are that you post a close up on an image that makes it hard to tell what it is and then have people guess what it is. Whoever get's it correct posts the next image, and so on.
