Clue seems interesting, but how do you decide who done it with what and where" and what about number of players limitation.

The number of players is 6 and one non-player host. The Host holds/decides the correct set of clues for the crime, distrubutes thru private message the clues each player is initially given and is able to answer the querry of the person making the sugestion, should the players not be timely in answering a sugestion in their turn order.

Its a good deal of responsibility for the host, but games tend to be fairly quick (a couple of days), unless people fail to appear for their turn (usually a time limit is set before someone loses their turn: somewhere between 12-24 hours or shorter depending on the speed of the other players). Guess I'll go dig up a version I have used before in the next couple of days and see if I can get enough people together here.

How about a "public people chain"?

This would involve a player naming some publically active person (meaning not your neigbour Bob, but someone you might find information on online, like in Wikipedia, or YouTube or the like), and the next player naming another such person that has been involved in some way with the previous person.

Example:

First post:
"President Bill Clinton"

Post #2:
"President Bill Clinton's vice president was Al Gore"

Post #3:

"Al Gore was house-mates in college with actor Tommy Lee Jones"

Post #4:
"Tommy Lee Jones worked with Will Smith in the movie 'Men In Black'"

and so on and so on.

Does this sound good to you? B)

What about confessions?

First poster admits to something funny/odd/shamefull/random.

Next poster does the same, so on and so forth.

It can be light hearted and relaxed eg: "I have never played a Final Fantasy game" or very serious.

How about 'Ask The Person Below You A Question'?
OP asks a question
person below answers and asks another question for the person below
repeat.

E.G. Have you ever regretted doing something?

Yes, I ate my best friends cat. Do you like the Bioware Social Site?
etc etc

Just thought of an improvement to that suggestion, that would give the game more purpose and direction - the first post names a "target person", and the game goes on as described above, until someone finds a connection to the named target person. That poster then gets to name the next "target person".

So, modifying the example above:

First post:
"Target: Will Smith
President Bill Clinton"

Post #2:
"
Target: Will Smith
President Bill Clinton's vice president was Al Gore"

Post #3:

"
Target: Will Smith
Al Gore was house-mates in college with actor Tommy Lee Jones"

Post #4:
"Tommy Lee Jones worked with Will Smith in the movie 'Men In Black

New Target: Richard Dawkins"

Post #5:
"
Target: Richard Dawkins

Will Smith worked with Kevin Kline in Wild Wild West"

and so on and so on.

Opinions?

As I said, I'm up for anything. I think we might want to follow Seagloom's suggestion and run our ideas past Mr. Woo.

I do like picture threads, I did like that picture puzzle thread for a bit. As far as post counting with pictures, I agree that the game had potential but pretty much degraded into "road signs", while not mentioning how difficult it can be with higher numbers, but some still posted numbers that had some interesting information attached, such as historical dates, landmarks, inventions, scientific facts, etc.

How about "Photoshop Tennis" (Scroll down)? Someone posts a picture (with a theme written below perhaps), then the next person would shop that picture while keeping in line with the written theme and then the next would do the same, or each person could shop the previous persons shop. The game would end when a winner is decided I assume.

Yeah that's like a version of Guilty/ Not Guilty that I thought about starting.. but it was deemed too vague.  AS was the scavenger hunt style game.

A lot of game ideas are just too hard to pull off on a forum where there's no one really "in charge" of the game.  Also, with the "guess what this or that" is type games..there's no real substance as most people just start posting new things w/o answering the last or people get ninja'd and no one knows where to carry on from there.

A lot of the games end up getting pretty old/dull rapidly. Or they end up with endless amounts of spam. What might be a better idea is to create a group dedicated to certain types of games. That way the "officers" of the group can police what's going on a little better. If spam needs removed it can be or if players abuse or troll they can be removed.

That would be resurrecting my old thread "Ask the member below you". Maybe I should PM Seagloom about resurrecting old forum games that were actually more productive?

My only problem with this is that people got bored the last time around because people were starting to answer questions that nobody could answer or didn't want to answer(like mathematical problems for example).

It depends. Just because a game was okay back then doesn't mean it would be now. It should be determined on a case by case basis. Asking Stanley about it is still your safest bet.

The "Clue"-type game and the "Six Degrees of Famous People"-type game are the most appealing to me right now, as they appear to require some thought rather than posting randomly, and the game has some kind of goal or objective rather than being super-open ended.

The "count by pictures" game I permitted because images were being restricted by a number it had to represent, and pretty obviously so. It also has to go in order, so it fulfills the requirements of requiring some thought and not being really open-ended..

The "X above you" threads may be permitted again in a while, once we get some different games going again, but right now, as Seagloom says, they've gotten far too random and annoying. Y'all are very creative people. I'm sure you can come up with some great ideas that aren't just repeats of things you've seen on 4chan or another board where more spammy type games are more tolerated.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that I posted a warning to the "post your mood w/pics" game. The game is acceptable because it's great to see how people match their mood to a pic, or vice versa. The last couple of entries had no text associated with them, which turns the game into a posting random pics game, and that is not permitted. I hope y'all can see the difference a little more clearly between acceptable and unacceptable picture-based games.

So does that mean we could have a game where we post pictures corresponding to the alphabet? For example, the first post would be A, so someone would post a picture of an Axe. Then for B, someone would post a Beetle.

As for a game. I'm wondering how a game with monoploy on the forum would work. HMMM! I'm all for capitalism! hehe!

How about a Hurt or Heal Game- Forum Member style. Volunteers Only, of course-so no feelings are hurt. No one can ADD points to themselves-only to others. Whomever wins gets to pick out a quote for Stanley to use for a week when he locks a thread :)

Of course Woo would have to be willing to use it :) but that would be fun I think!
