I'm thinking of buying a laptop to play RPGs like Baldur Gate series, NWN series, DAO and The Witcher. I'm also hoping to play other new games on this laptop.
I'm not really an expert on PCs so can you please tell me if the 2 options I'm thinking about are any good? Which one would be the best value (performance and value wise)?
Also, would ATI dedicated graphics card be better then nVidia one?
1.
$992
Asus 15''
Intel Core i5-430m 2.26Ghz
nVidia GT310m with 1GB dedicated graphics
4Gb RAM
500Gb HDD
Win7
2.
$1097
HP Pavillion
Intel Core i5-430m 2.26Ghz
15'' screen
4Gb memory
500GB HDD
ATI mobility Radeon HD 5650 1Gb dedicated card
Win 7
Good laptop for games (inc NWN2)?

The HP Pavillion one has the better graphics cards and will be better suited to play PC games.
ATI mobility 5650

Nvidia GT310mm

The 310m is not really for gamers, most high sys req games wont run fluently in it. as per the article.

Sorry I wasn't online.
Yes It should run fine and with no problems plus allowance to spare.
See this link

It can run Crysis at 30fps. (And I heard crysis is one of the most GPU intensive games out there) So it can probably play anything available at the moment.

Big question is whether or not you will be satisfied running "just" the games you mentioned.
That was the question I had to ask myself when buying my laptop... the answer was yes, so I went ahead (and in 2.5 years have yet to install anything past NWN/NWN2/ToEE for gaming on it).
If the answer is "no" to the question though, you'll want to look at a beefier system.

Asus Republic of Gamers laptops have better specs and are usually a little more affordable.
