I am a comparitive newcomer to the Forum, so I haven't had the opportunity to visit ALL the threads, but I can see a curious trend that is distressing. Everybody is under the opinion that they are endowed with the rights to demand any plot specific situation that fits their taste (in honesty even I partook in some). As long as game mechanics is concerned, one may demand certain changes that are within the scope of the game engine /design and improve the game experience. But I think that asking the writers to introduce variations in the plot for socio-political raesons is going a bit to far.

I have seen rights of representation being asked for ******,hetero and heck even inter-specie  sexuals. I understand the need to express your feelings and your right to express yourself in the world as you see fit and as long as you harm no one, but I would say that you do NOT have right to challenge the opinions of the authors on these issues. The simple reason behind this is: They are Humans too. They have right to express and right to believe.

There is nothing preventing the authors to steer the plot in any direction they want. It is the fact that they are considerate about social aspects (or on another hand, profits) that they allow social aspects of real world to seep into the game, which otherwise is not necessary. Sometimes the authors have certain plot-lines in mind which would be undermined if there is variation forced or varation removed in the plot. Thus plot must take precedence over all! It is the central thema of the game and needs to be continuous.

I am not saying that asking the Authors for anything is like banging your head against the wall.. Perhaps they even MAY agree with you and introduce the change you desire.. (though unlikely). But the real point is that you should consider their opinion and Plot necessities as well, before trying to force yours in.

please report the trolls who try to bust threads they don't like directly
via pm to a moderator
- threads about other board topics just make little sense.

I like this OP, I understand peoples wishes for certain elements within the game, but I wouldn't go and ask my favourite author to start including points I wanted in the story.

I like to be surprised and would rather have a game based on the writers wishes for the story rather than a gestalt of players ideas and wishes.

I don't see any reason why you think someone doesn't have the right to challenge the choices made by the authors. Being the consumers, they have the right to express whatever they like. Being the authors, the have the right to ignore whatever they like.

Whatever someone wants to get included (from crazy hair styles and more gorge to wedding options and dialogue depth), for whatever reason, should just be measured on whether it would increase the quality of the particular game in question.

Well, Bioware did include homosexuality in DA:O, so people can reasonably hope and plead for the same in the second game. You are correct in that no one has a *right* to any content - aside form a good game - but it isn't unreasonable to expect a return of something they included in the first game and most people responded very well to. (Sure there was some uproar from FauxNews, but that probably helped them sell copies)

24 hour ban meted out. As Chairon wrote, fire off a message to a DA2 forum moderator. Responding to posts like that is strongly discouraged. It can also end up leading to escalating responses until your thread has to be locked.

On another note, while there is nothing wrong with your post, SirShrek, I'm going to lock this thread since it's more about discussing DA2 discussions than DA2 itself. When a game is as story driven as Origins was, and lets the player dictate to a small degree how that story pans out, it is natural for said player to feel invested. Their experience is important to them. The desire to see that experience acknowledged and extended drives many of these suggestions. I'm not stating it's a universal truth for every forumite, but I imagine it's more common than not. People are wont to speculate and share their desires when a new game is announced. It's simply business as usual.
