I have a similar issue with kakpop, and yes, I've uninstalled both games, deleted the patch log files, deleted the bioware files in both my documents and program files, deleted any related appdata/local/temp files, installed origins, installed awakening, and THEN attempted to patch to 1.04.

Done this about 3-4 times, still get the error [36]

Checking the RT patch log, it appears the problem is this:

ENTRY: packages\\\\core\\\\textures\\\\high\\\\chargentexturepack.gpu.rim

error ept0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was

found. No update done since file contents do not match.

Any clue as to WHAT exactly is causing this problem?

I had Origins and Awakenings already installed along with all the dlc and several mods. When the 1.04 patch came out I just installed it on top of everything I had and so far everything has worked fine. My saves didn't corrupt and I got no errors. I did have a similar error when I reinstalled awakenings at one time. I did an install while running another program in the background. It was just enough to screw up the install. But for me a simple reinstall fixed it. But since a reinstall is not working for you I'm not sure what would work.

Try this, Install Origins, then put Awakening disc into drive, instead of installing it, go into the contents of the disc and the Patch folder and manually run the 1.03 patch, then do 1.04 patch. Then install Awakening.

It would detect the same 1.03 patch or newer and will not install the patch and skip it.

On the installation it will say "Installing Patch 1.03", but a few seconds later it will install the expansion instead.

Hmm have you tried to redownload patch 1.04? May be corrupt the one you have.

Also try from a different source instead.

http://files.bioware...agonAge1.04.exe is the one from the official site.

http://games.softped...ins-Patch.shtml from another site.

Also if your on Vista or Windows 7, right click the patch and run as administrator incase you still have UAC set to on on your system.

There is a bit of probs with 1.04 patch for lots of people, perhaps its a blessing in disguise you cant install it ? :P

Other than that I have no idea, have you used 3rd party mods? if so that could be why.

Some mods may have changed files in both size and crc. Just a thought, never used mods so cant say if they inject into current files or not.

If they do a reinstall of DAO will be in order to patch up, but when uninstalling you can keep your saves and settings.
