Bethany's appearance

Looking at the screenshots we have, it does seem as though Bethany clearly resembles the default Hawke. What I really want to know is whether she will always look like that or will her appearance depend on the character customisation for Hawke in the same way that Fallout 3 changed the appearance of your father? This is very important to me as if I always have a white sister in game, if I make a black character it breaks immersion. It would annoy me to have to always design my Hawke to look somewhat like Bethany in every playthrough in order to properly roleplay. Would be nice to get some developer clarification on this one.

I laughed out loud when I made a black Cousland only to realize that my entire family didn't match. It raised a few questions, to be sure.
Ahahahahah I did the same thing.

I guess I'm not the only one who loll'd at Black Couslands situation as the odd one out in the family.

Yeah I did the same thing, wanted to make a badass black warrior that would look like Sten's younger brother. But after seeing as it broke immersion with the family being pasty white, I remade the character to the one in my avatar.

Apparently this also happens with white parents having black kids, It only happens once in several hundred thousand cases but is enough to allow a black Cousland in game. If you need an excuse to have a black kid with white parents.

Well this week a black couple in the UK gave birth to a white child with blue eyes and blonde hair. Neither have any mixed race in their family and the child is not an albino. Both parents are genetical match no playing away.

But it's not the same...
Anyways the random reason I gave for my Cousland being black was that he was adopted and that the people from Highever have just accepted him as a Cousland and not some adopted punk.

Yes that could work as your parents keeps calling you "pup" as if you were some stray dog when they found you!
But more seriously, I hope Bioware fixes this so that if you make a black character in DA2 your sister will have a dark skin color as well (although I think it'd be more difficult to do the same for asian looking Hawke or hispanic and such)

My two word excuse for olive skinned Cousland: Antivan affair.
Not all Antivans are dark/olive/tanned skinned like Zevran, remember Master Ignacio

That is true... However, I can't think of a better excuse so I'm sticking with this one <_<

I'm also very anxious to see any developer comments. It's not that hard to implement, you just set some variables for Bethany model to be same as for player character.
Assuming that they haven't preplaced Bethanies in various places in the game.

it was done in NWN1, there was no single permanent character but as you moved from one place to another there was a character with the same name and looks just giving out different dialogue

Is Bethany's hair purple? If so, wtf? I wasn't aware purple was a natural hair color, nor was I aware hair dye had been invented. I suppose that counts as ****ing, but I really don't have a problem with it at all, it's just odd that's all.
i think its reddish brown... otherwise the game will be a bit anime-like
