I have the utmost faith in Gaider, Chee, Kirby and the writers for DA. I'm not worried about that (at least until we start getting info on whether its an Awakening style dialogue system...).
Its just that everything else about DA, from the art style, narrative structure, voiced PC, combat and more all seem to be changing- but for what reason? To make a better game?
I'm just genuinely confused why BioWare is making what seem to be such wholesale changes to DA, given that Origins was a commercial and critical success. Its one thing to iterate, improve and build off of what made the first game successful, but its baffling to me why they seem intent on radically changing so much of the elements people loved in Origins. Maybe the changes will be for the better, but the way the changes have thus far been presented, it reminds me way too much of ME2's build up- focus on the combat and graphics and ignore the RPG elements.
I have a lot of faith in the writers too, but I don't think they will be the ones with the influence on the combat, unfortunately.

and the reviewer is not full of bull -which may be the case, the ign preview mentioned allot about turn based combat-, why on earth did they make DA2 hack & slash when Diablo III is just around the corner?

You didn't get anything as specific a comparison as Ninja Gaiden.
Please read the article.

I don't think that's likely, competing with Diablo III is a financial suicide and everyone knows that.

While this is unfortunately true on the whole, I'm only really suggesting seeing what the people comment on from their own experiences, irrespective of if said experiences are burried under tones of 'gaming is ending as we know it' or 'BioWare does no wrong'. All the comments mention that combat is largely similar in comparison to Origins with two exceptions: that it's more responsive to input, and that Darkspawn die too easily.MoSa09 wrote...
Because the community is divided, and i do not know them in person.
There are the ones who are angry beyond words, and engage themselves in accusations, insults like BioWare murdered their family and now regard everything BioWare said or does is EVIL, EVIL, EVIL and just bad.
On the other hand, there are the ones who seem to be part of some BioWare cult and have indestructible faith that BioWare is run by Angels who can never fail and jump at every dev post "oh [insert dev name here], you're so awesome, don't get bothered by the haters, we all so much love and we buy everything you do cause we're sure its awesome".
I trust none of them, to be honest, and between all those flaming among then, its hard to distinguish the ones who are either positive or negative with reason and have build a solid opinion i would trust.
And the latter has already been explained as the demo being intentionally over the top.

I have to admit they may have the same writres but with coming up with the main character called hawke, just sounds like they spent 2 minutes coming up with names.
What is this obsession with the name everyone seems to have?

The focus on ninja gaiden style action is stupid.
The reviewer played a short demo designed to showcase the differences to the combat system, which was not perfect.

Why they have decided to revamp and reboot this game is beyond me except they figure lets just make a game real quick becuase we need cash and lets use a name with a lot of capital behind it, which EA does because they have forecasted lower earnings next quarter so they need to boost there stock price.
Your just jumping to conclusions here

With Dragon Age Orgins, he had multiple origin stories with multiple classes which made for alot of complex interactions and posibilties.
Now we have one one choice for a charcter origin, Hawke only 3 choices max for diablog and we no what are choice will dictate.
Having a more restricted character allows them a lot more control over the story, there are as many advantages as disadvantages.
We know Hawke can, and often does, have more than three possible lines of dialouge

They are revamping the game, origins allowed you to create your own story, by your very admission by limiting our character choice it allows them to control the story. which means its not RPG its a linear story.
The name Hawke sounds dumb. and generic they had to do this becuase EA decided voice overs is the way to go.
Bioware and EA have not come out at all to defend anything yet either as far as I am concerened they are dumbing down the game according to IGN and 1up. and rushing a sequel to boost EA bottom line

Most of the demo was spent explaining the evolution process of Dragon Age: Origins to that of Dragon Age 2, in that the team paid attention to reviews, and listened to focus groups to get feedback on what worked and what didn't. Apparently a lot of the complaints revolved around the combat, and BioWare took notes to evolve Dragon Age 2 into what it is currently shaping up to be... a much more combat driven action game. So much for the rebirth of the Western RPG.
This is officially a "wait and see" for me now.

I hope so, if not, competing with Diablo III is downright silly and tbh choosing Diablo III is the obvious thing to do, Blizz has made the best hack & slash games so far, I don't see why I should pick another one when D III will be out, will sport yearly expansions, multiplayer and optimized code to run on almost any machine out there.
