Wait you were fine with being given a character to play in DA but not in DA2? Im confused here, whats so different about being Cousland and being Hawke bearing in mind we know nothing about his background(s)? Your complaining about something we know nothing about yet as far as I can see.Kordaris wrote...
We didn't start the game as mindless Warden-bots, but full fledged personas who have their own experience and goals. Becoming a Warden didn't erase that personality for me. And really I would prefer to play a unique and customised figure rather than "Hawke-bot"(with optional female features).Regardless of what you were doing, you were a Grey Warden. You can't stop being one. As the Darkspawn will have a minor role in this game, there is no need to be a Warden.
Very meh about this game, seems like somebody made all the wrong decisions?

Basically, Bioware look at metacritic score for Mass Effect 2, think it best game ever (even though it is actually big turd) and think it make Dragon Age super awesome if it Mass Effect. Now game ruined, Starcraft 2 come out, and nobody care.
Leaving aside the dubious logic of the first sentence, how on earth is Starcraft 2 a substitute for an RPG?

In DA1 I could play:
- Cousland
- Amell
- Surana
- Tabris
- Mahariel
- Aeducan
- Brosca

the main issue is the background all were different, now we have a single origin, with Hawke, a peasant who fled his village, you can't even decide your origin to the point that you were the son of the smith, rich daughter of the merchant, or an orphan sholar at the Chantry

So you get 7 different last names in DAO. BFD.
As for Hawke, it's a traditional English name, so it fits the setting just fine.
