I have the 4 in 1 box set and the CD for BG1 is scratched, causing 2 files not to install.AREA2300.bif and MovieCD2.mov do not install from the disk and I can not get the files manually copied after install.  I looked on the interplay website and they do not have BG listed in their selection of games in technical support.  Does anyone know how I can get these two files so my install works?  Really don't want to buy a whole new game when everything else is fine, just these two files...  I had to remove the previous install and when I tried to reinstall I ran in to this problem.  Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Chad

I'm not sure about the AREA file but the movie file you could try just copying and renaming one of the other movie files. This would of course mean that you'd see another movie instead of the "CD2" movie. But it would solve any missing file issue that you come across.

Maybe if you could find a mod that affects AREA2300.bif you could try to use the file from such a mod. Beyond that I can't think of any other way of doing this even semi-legally.

Are you sure it's moviecd2.mov? It would make more sense for it to be a .bif file. Renaming files will not work with .bif files because it's the contents of the file that matters (they are merely containers holding other files).

Sending someone else game files is not illegal. It falls into the same category as mods.

My original BG1 set of CDs was pristine.  Now, 4 out of five still are, but Disk 1 is broken in half.

I have it on a DVD now, as well as a backup CD set . . Now, where do I register it so it shows that I have it (them)?  (OK, just kidding -- I already know the answer.)
