I've held off on DSC and Leliana's Song so far because I'd rather continue on playing as my warden, rather than play some completely separate adventure that has little to no effect on my warden or Origins.

Darkspawn Chronicles is unspectacular, but you're doing yourself a disservice skipping out on Leliana's Song. Of all the DLC they've released for DA:O so far it's the one that's really worth getting. At least if you like Leliana's character.

Some people still want 100% of trophies in their PSN profile, if you understand me.

I gave up on those trophy things after reaching like 92%, they just keep publishing DLCs and some of them are really boring

I don`t care for DLC that adds nothing to the campaign story, this is not for me

Well, the old Bioware is finally dead.

No more storylines, no more athmosphere, no more romance, no more epic ... welcome to EA's Hack'n'Slay-Bioware.

I actually wanted to buy everything from Dragon Age and ME2, because I believed in you guys no matter what the haters shouted all over the Internet, but after the pathetic excuse for an Add-On - which you called "Awakening" - and the crap DLC's for ME2, I finally gave up.

Let's hope for the Witcher 2. There's not much else on the horizon for the ambitious roleplayer, who isn't interested in wannabe-gory shooters/slashers.

Its been so strange how we've gotten 3 high quality story driven DLC's for Mass Effect 2 and combat heavy, story lite DLC's for Dragon Age that have gone about reusing levels from the main campaign.

Voice acting costs a lot folks. Hack&Slash needs the generic combat shouting only.

I'll just pass this one.

This is Pinnacle Station all over again. We don't play these games for the combat, BioWare!

sadly many people do... and they are the new target group, since they also buy every DLC - be it ridicolous priced "Map Packs" or Hack n´ Slay Dungeons.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the DLC are practice runs? Want to try a new conversation system...ta da Leliana's song. Want to see how receptive DA fans will be to new combat system in DAII...combat focus DLC.

It is smart marketing. Give the client more content and ensure that the next contribution in the series will be well received. Also it provides them with more money to operate while at the same time as we pay to be the testers. This crowd will be very vocal about their conclusions of the results.

As long as the DLCs actually offer content that is enjoyable and playable, I see nothing wrong with providing this type of gaming. What would be a poor choice on the company's part, is if they failed to listen to the desires of their clients.

I would rather pay 7 to 10 dollars for a dlc and determine that if this is the new direction the company is working towards and it does not mesh with my likes, I am not out much. Since I have enjoyed Bioware since BG I would hate to learn after spending 60 dollars for a new game and then 1500 for the computer to play it that they are not longer appealing.

So far (with the exception of feast day gifts and pranks- sad quality and content) I have been delighted with the choices I have been offered. Not everything has been to my taste but look at the choices. We have actually received a DLC every other month and one expanasion already.

Yeah, that's how I feel. I agree with attend--that's probably why they're doing this, and I also think that it's just easier and less-time consuming. Anyone here with their toolset can make a dungeon. I refuse to pay for that. It costs them next to no extra money for this time and effort. However, they'd have to pay for voice actors, for more story, for new, unique locations. Which I guess they don't want to do.

I can honestly say I've never had to say this before, but I just hope this DLC bombs so they get the hint.

Ugh, I feel dirty having said that. It's not even like normal, like "Oh, there are changes, but give it a chance!". All combat and no story...I'll pass.

i can comment now. Seems to me Bioware is trying out all different things with the DLC's to cater for everyone. Trouble is you can't please people all the time but you can some of the time.
DLC's prior to Darkspawn Chronicles were good. DC was a BIG miss. Leliana's Song was ok but very short. But it was story related.
Personally i don't want an all combat DLC with no dialogue....we need a break from battles you know.

But we will be playing with a party. But who will be in this party? All new buddies? And i suppose there won't be any reason to get to know them because this is a DLC and at the end you won't see these new buddies again.
This is all so sad.
|I think i'll have a darkspawn sandwich.

Pretty much this.  I think they are trying out different approaches to content to see how people react, as well as provide content for different tastes.  Of course it is probably much easier to make a combat heavy dungeon than a story heavy DLC ... but in the end the sales will indicate how popular it is.

As for me, I pass.  I want story, combat, quests, and the ability to choose and play my own character.  I should say I do enjoy some added content though -  I happened to really enjoy Awakening, and I also had fun with Shale and Wardens Keep.  I also picked up the Return to Ostagar ... but meh, it was a bit light on everything.

Darkspawn Chronicles didn't interest me as I have no desire to play a darkspawn.  Leliana's Song didn't interest me as I prefer to play my own character in a game, not someone else.  Still I think Leiana's Song is a nice addition and seemed to be overall well recieved.

Just remember that even though this DLC might not be to your taste, there should still be at least three more DLC's before DAII. That is if Bioware sticks with the every other month schedule.

Edit:  ...and there is still something for the Feb 1, 2011 date, but I figure that is the movie.Posted Image

The actual release date is in March--February was their optimistic projected release date. The trailer comes out in August.

And I believe they've told us that there will be two years of DLC from DAO.

I have posted somewhere that I'd like to see some kind of end-game dungeon, that would not only give me something to do after finishing the main quest, but also give me a place to take my squad if I feel like just fighting stuff, whether it's post coronation or if I'm just looking to slay some darkspawn in between collecting treaties during the main quest..

Hopefully this new dlc won't be "finished" upon clearing the enemies once, but will have enemies that respawn either over time or upon leaving and returning.

This. I want to be able to go dungeon crawling during the main adventure, be it in Origins or Awakening.

Posted Image  Not interested in a combat simulator which is what this DLC sounds like - especially if the dungeon is static (ie same layout, same enemies in same positions on every play-through).

Posted Image  It might be more interesting if they allow the player to pre-toggle settings in the game other than just Difficulty.  Some things that could be toggled:

1 > allow the player to choose any class, any race and either sex (maybe even play as Darkspawn or Undead or Werewolf or Golem)

2 >  random generated dungeon that mixes up the room layouts and monster placements (they do this in Diablo so it is possible)

3 > allow the player to pick party members (ie race, class, sex)

4 > randomly generate the gear that the player party starts with

5 > randomize the treasure that monsters drop - from common items to truly unique gear not seen in Origins or Awakening or any previous DLC

6 > have quest-changing options - if a player makes one choice takes away another choice - this makes for re-playability since players will want to try different choices on following play-throughs

Just a few ideas to make things more interesting . . .

WTF!! I mean, seriously? What the hell is wrong with these people?

I completely frickin' give up. The 2 years of DLC is just a stupid joke, and anytime DLC is mentioned in the future, I'll know that what they really mean is utter crap that has nothing to do with the game. On top of DA2 this is just..... Agh!!!

Did they fire all the management that had anything to do with DA:O? Is that what it is? Do the people there now totally not get it?

They might as well just stick a gun in out ribs and demand our wallets.
