If you want to play MotB or SoZ on the Mac, the first thing you have to do is update the OC to v1.23

If you only want to play MotB then you should go to http://nwn-europa.blogspot.com/ and download the files for MotB. Then follow the instructions for where to place the iles. After that you'll have to open the nwncdkey.ini file and put in your CD keys. You can open the file using textedit or a similar program.

If you want to play both MotB and SoZ then you should download the files at two different locations, with links below. Then follow the Readme about where to place the files (The Ambient_X2 folder is meant to be empty, just move the move the folder over). After that you'll have to open the nwncdkey.ini file and put in your CD keys. You can open the file using textedit or a similar program. Also, make sure to run the game between each of the three major steps (install, patch, add expansions), otherwise you won't hear BGM from the expansions, and there may be other problems I'm unaware of.

Hopefully you can all enjoy playing the MotB and SoZ expansions.

Dropbox has temporarily disabled Part1 due to a lot of traffic to it. So, until it's back up, you'll all have to either manage without it until then, or find somewhere else I can upload the file. You can also download CyberPawz files for SoZ rather than mine (also available at nwn-europa.blogspot.com), but those files didn't work for some people (such as myself).

Actually it does work. CyberPawz file that is. What it is, is just the needed files for online play. In other words just enough of the files to allow us Mac users to log on PW's that need SoZ in order to play. What it lacks are the other files and mods in order to play the game SP on your own computer. Your files have all the needed files to play SP or MP. Hope that helps all.

I have been trying to get motb to run on my iMac, running snow leopard, for the last week or so. I upgraded NWN2 to the 1.23 patch. I have purchased the windows version of MotB and ran macnwn2x 2, attempting to pull the files off of the disk. Afterwords I read that this no longer works, and it didn't. I have attempted to download the files in the first post of this topic twice. I can extract the files of the "NWN2 OC MotB Pk.rar" file up to the VOX1zip file. Both of my downloaded files stop extracting here, saying that the file is corrupted. I tried putting all of the files that it was able to extract into the correct folders. MotB will load to the start screen. When I try to start any campaign or saved game, it loads the mods, but then quits to the desktop. Both of the "NWN2_MotB_SoZ_For_Mac_.zip" files will not unarchive. Are there other ways to get the correct files off of the disk, or other sources to download the relevant files? I think that I am only missing a very small number of files at this point. I have no access to a PC copy of the OC, mine is Mac. Can a PC friend get those files off of the disk without a PC version of NWN2? Please Help.

Dropbox took the file down due to excessive downloads, so that's probably why they aren't working for you. I'd like to put them somewhere else, but wasn't able to find anything. You might be able to explore the disk and grab the files off of it, like you do for the first NWN. If you want a complete list of the files I can give it to you.

I've split the file into 8 parts, and am currently uploading them to rapidshare. You'll need to download each of the parts (~470MB each), combine them using the program found at http://www.xs4all.nl...e/Split&Concat/ , and then unzip the combined file. Also, you'll want to run the program in between each step (install the game, update to 1.23, add the expansions). Otherwise you won't be able to hear any of the music from the expansions, and there could be other problems I'm not aware of. I'll update my original post once all the files are uploaded.

Raph, in your readme you mention that  "The next step is to transfer the Ambient_X1 and Ambient_X2 files to the (first) Data Folder."  When i open the Ambient_X2 folder there are no files in the folder.  Considering that you said to move the files, not the folder, am I missing something?  I did get the files from the links on the old NWN2 forum, so maybe I have outdated .zip files.

That folder is meant to be empty. The files on the old forum are the same as the ones here.

I've updated my original post with links to files on Rapidshare as well as the files on dropbox.

So then I'm not moving anything from the Ambient_X2 folder into my Neverwinter Nights 2 > Data folder. My Folder should look like this: http://tinypic.com/r/2py9n4j/7

Hello,
The Dropbox links for the 2 .zip files are now suspended because of high traffic use.

If you need an alternative place to host them, I can also do this for a while.  But first, I'd like to see if the installation works...and I can't do it when Part1 is stuck at 76% download!

RaphaelS, if you can get Dropbox to reenable the links so I can complete my download, I'll upload them to another hosting site, or even better, find a torrent site for the files.

I would hate to see this topic get lost.  But I'm still rather unsure of how to install this.  The creator of the topic/files says "Move only the files not the folders"  then when asked says move an empty folder.  If anyone has successfully installed this and could shed some light on the correct install process, please speak up.  I have already botched an install becasue of a different method to get MotB working.  I really dont feel like messing up my install because im still playing the original campaign. In other words, help!

Hello,
I can verify that the 2 file download from dropbox does work!

I followed the directions in the Readme file, and they seemed straightforward...well, it worked for me.

Mostly, you DO simply copy over just the files to corresponding named folders, but there are a few folders—like the Ambient_X1 folder—that are specific to MotB and SoZ, and need to be copied over.

Like you wrote, if you botched and earlier install, you'll need to reinstall the Original Campaign and apply the patch, then do the MotB and SoZ install.  Do it once, do it right.

But, if you're currently playing the OC, you can just finish that up first before the reinstall, or why don't you export your character...although I'm not sure if exporting your character also saves the state of your current game.

When when playing single-player, saving the game itself stores the game state, exporting the character gives you a copy of your character with the current character stats at the time of the save.

In Multi-player environments, only the hosting server will have the game state at the time of the game save.

Thank you steve. As I understand, I move only the files if the folder already exists (don't want to overwrite folders with necessary files in them.)

okay I finally got this up and running. So for anyone who has issues understanding what gets moved where "Move only the files if the folder does not already exist. The only exception being the GUI folder which MUST be overwritten"

Steve, would you be able to download the rapidshare files, merge them, and create a torrent for that? I don't know anything about torrents so can't do it myself.

Also, can I add the torrent links to my original post?

Thanks,

Raphael

Hello Raphael,

I'll compile the 2 parts into one torrent file.

In the meantime, the 2-part torrents are working, and you can link them to your original post.

A post to RaphaelS or anyone who can help.

I have NWN2 OC For Mac and just bought MOTB (PC). I followed RaphaelS' instructions to allow me to play MotB on the Mac as follows: updated Mac OC using 1.23 patch, inserted files from the NWN2 OC MotB Pk download (from Europa site) and loaded game. OC seems to run fine (better so far, in fact with this patch) and the start screen is MotB, but but it won't let me start a game of MotB as there seem to be no module files as far as I can tell.

Am I meant to try and install (PC Version of) MotB on my Mac first ( I am running snow leopard)? Have I misplaced the .mod files for MotB? Also, I have modified the .ini file to add the OC and MotB CD keys but it still asks for the OC CD in the drive.

Any help would be truly appreciated. I am really not good with this stuff.

Many thanks in advance

Hello Loremaster 13,

The download from Europa for MotB is not the same as the MotB/SoZ package that RaphaelS uploaded (or that I've created Torrents for). You should email Erik from Europa and discuss this.

Under the Neverwinter Nights 2 folder, in Data, you should have a folder called 'Neverwinter Nights 2 Campaign_X1'.

If not, then you don't have the necessary MotB files.

You can't install the PC version of MotB on your Mac. The installer won't run.

And, even though it has been mentioned that in Patch 1.23 you no longer need your original disc, I've always been asked for it, even after installing SoZ.

You could always install the MotB/SoZ files listed on this thread, by downloading and following the instructions. You only need the PC version of MotB for the serial number.

The no need disk is for PC users only. That was put into their patch. As for us Mac users, we don't have that option. We need the disk in to play.

I posted in the general thread and then found this one so i'm also posting my problem here and I hope somebody can help. I'm on an iMac with snow leopard and have updated my game and installed Motb - it took a week of trial and errors but finally worked.

My problem is that after removing a mod I was playing (the kitchen boy) I can no longer save a game. I even tried the original campaign and can't save there either. Either I took something out that I shouldn't have or left something in that should have been removed and it's driving me crazy. If I try to save over a saved game it says it's saving but it doesn't and if I try to save a new game I get dumped to the desktop.

Does anybody have an idea as to what could be causing this? I would really appreciate some help!

Thanks in advance,

Karen :)
