I've added the torrent links to my post. Thanks for making them, Steve.

Loremaster13, as Steve said those files were from europa and weren't made by me. They did work for me before I bought SoZ though, so make sure you have everything in the right places.

Frosty44, I don't really know anything about what might cause that (I uploaded those files and take programming classes at school, but other than that I don't really know anything about computers). My best guess would be to try taking everything out of your override folder and see if that fixes it.

Thanks RaphaelS, but I took everything out of the override folder when I removed the rest of the game files and it didn't help.

Thank-you message to

I cannot thank you guys enough! It does seem that I now have NWN2 OC and MotB running beautifully (although there is a long way to go in each campaign..). I want to personally thank you for the effort you have put into the NWN community in terms of providing files, programs, step-by step guides and general discussion. As an average guy in the street when it comes to computing, you have been an enormous help. I hope things continue to run smoothly on my Mac and I hope you won't mind being pestered further if everything goes pear-shaped!

I'll keep browsing these sites to keep an eye on your progress with SoZ and, of course, your own projects.

Best regards and many thanks

I'm beginning to think that my problem might be due to something missing from the Motb install. It turns out that in the current mod I'm playing I can only save over old saves. If I try to do a new save I'm dumped to the desktop too. :(

Ranger Solo, are you out there? You've helped me so much in the past and I'm really hoping you can do it once again - I would really appreciate it!

@Frosty44

That is odd??

Is it only that mod that you cannot save? Have you tried any other mod or the main game to see if saving any new game is a problem?

Thanks for getting back to me! Your help has always been invaluable!!!

If you check my first message on page 1 you'll see that I can't save a new game in the OC, Motb, or another mod. I get dumped to the desktop every time I try. In the other mod it said that it was saving, but didn't if I saved over another save and also dumped me to the desktop if I tried to do a new save. This is definitely driving me nuts!

OK. Real dumb questions to be asked.

What is the system spec of your mac? Which (whose) files did you use to install MoTB?

Need to do some back tracking to get a clearer picture in my mind. One more thing to ask too. Did you put the mod you took out back in and checked to see if you could save again?

I have a brand new 22" imac intel with lots of space and ram so that's definitely not the problem. I got the link for the Motb files at the old mac forum before Bioware shut it down plus the "extras" that were linked there (to get rid of the missing textures on dead companions, etc.).

As to the mod I'm playing (The Kitchen Boy) I can save over previously saved games, but if I try to do a new save I get dumped to the desktop. The question in my mind right now is why can I save this mod and only over old saves?

I've been looking at all the files and noticed something else. I have a folder named Miles in the app folder of Neverwinter Nights 2 and don't know where it came from. It isn't from the mod I'm playing and don't remember seeing it before.

Thanks again for trying to help!

@Frosty44: I've learned the hard way that it is always a good idea to back up a copy of the basic working OC + MotB and/or SoZ, that when you install modules, etc. if it crashes out, you can always go back to a working version...then start over.

In hindsight I know you're right, but it's a little bit too late for that right now. And now I can't even reinstall unless I want to buy another disk! The real problem is that I'm not even sure it was working correctly after I installed Motb - the game loaded but I can't remember if I tried to save the game or not - I don't think it ever occurred to me.

Actually, I thought I did have a back up copy but it turned out that when my husband backed it up for me (I was playing on his computer at the time) it already had The Kitchen Boy mod installed and I didn't realize it until after we moved the game to my new computer and my husband dumped his backups in his time machine because he was running out of room. Bad luck all around!

Can you think of anything that could be causing this problem? And, btw, do you know anything about the Miles folder? Is there a folder with that name installed in your game?

Thanks again - I really do appreciate your trying to help.

@Frosty44

Buy another disk? Did you lose the one you had?

Am at lost as to why you are experiencing such trouble at the moment. I'm booting my portable drive up now and will see what files should be there and then check them against yours. So hang on for my next post.

OK. I've looked through my files and did not see the folder called Miles. Going to have to do this the old fashion way.

1. Remove all files that are related to the mod "Kitchen Boy" weather that be hak, mod, or what ever. Including the folder called Miles. (Just make sure you remove and not delete that Miles folder and content)

2. Just start all over with a fresh install and 'do make a back-up of a clean install first before adding other mods' then add mods of your choice to play.

Document content check list;
ambient
ambient_X1 (MoTB)
ambient_X2 (SoZ)

application NWN2 folder

Data
Neverwinter Nights 2 Server.app
Neverwinter Nights 2.app
Support.localized
(This one may not be all that importaint but just to see if there is something missing or extra there.)

Now another thing to keep in mind is that when you installed the other files for MoTB and or for SoZ. Did you drag and copy over the files or did you copy the whole folder over? If you copied over the whole folder instead of the files that could be a reason for your trouble.

Let us know how things are going and I'll keep posting ideas or hints to try.

Oh one more thing. Try removing files from the override and hak folder.

Thanks again for your help! I just finally got an answer from Aspyr saying that I'm using an unsupported mod and to reinstall. Great help.

As to a problem reinstalling, I have the disk and it works while I'm playing but it won't let me reinstall. It gets about half way then I get an error message that the disk is bad and needs to be replaced!

When I installed Motb I did it one file at a time. I checked my game and the files in documents are exactly what you listed. In the app folder, however, I don't have a file called Support.localized, but I do have folders named Ambient_X1 and Music_X1.

BTW, the first thing I did when I removed the mod I was playing was to take out the haks and override folders. What I don't understand is why I can save (over previous saves) at all in the mod I'm playing but I can't save in anything else! Weird, huh?

Thanks again! <3

Can you check your disk for scratches? Also try cleaning the drive with a disk cleaner to see if that will help you reinstall.

I can't figure it out why you are having such problems. I am sorry for not being more of help to you. Aspyr is great for stating the obvious and doing nothing to help. The real people who could have helped were either fired or quit, I think.

Ranger Solo, thanks again for trying to help. I have no idea what the problem was but I think maybe a file got corrupted. In any case - I have great news! I pulled the back up game from my external drive which I thought would be messed up too since the game I was playing was a copy, but apparently not. I removed all the files from the mod I was playing - and I can save!!! I backed up the game on dvds and am ready to try to get SOZ working. Wish me luck lol! Is there anything I should know before making the attempt?

Thanks again!

Is there a link where I can download the files I need just for Soz since I already have Motb installed?

At the moment. I don't think there is just a SoZ file. However, just copy over the SoZ files that you need and join the fun on the server. If you want to a SP run. I'm probably the wrong guy to ask. I still haven't been able to get it to run right. Most likely on my end for all the content (mods with haks & stuff) that is causing some kind of trouble I think. Been lazy these days on gaming. More to do with work keeping more busy than usual. LOL
I know Cyberpawz files do work and I do have all the files needed to play both SP and MP of SoZ. Try asking him, Cyberpawz, for help or if anybody can help Frosty44 here. Please do so.

Will try to continue to help you as best I can Frosty44.

Happy Mac D&D gaming.

Thanks again! What is a SP run?

I do have one more question - is there anyway to play NWN2 in full screen?

But of course. Just go to the settings and check or uncheck the box for full screen viewing. SP = Single play. MP = Multi-play.

I'm back.... I had the full screen already clicked. I'm afraid I didn't really explain what I'm after. Is there a hack or something to play in widescreen? I heard there was one for BG 2 a while back. I have a 22" screen and would love to have the game fill the whole area like when I played Fable! I tried playing with the display but it just stretches the screen so everything looks like a pancake lol!

Hmmm.......

Refreshing the screen rate does nothing? I don't have such a wide screen to truly check on this. The max I have is 15". Will have to dig around on this one.
