l never tried the refresh - I'll see if it works tonight. Thanks!

Well, I looked in all the control panels and I can't find anything that says "refresh the screen" - where is it?

Thanks! :)

Sorry there. Been tied up here in Japan.

It is the screen setting of changing the rate 800x640 and etc... to something else that your screen should change to reflect the setting. If you still can't get this to go full screen I will dig around some more for a code you can put in your .ini file to try. Assuming if all goes wrong or somebody else hasn't helped you by then.

Thanks for getting back to me. I did try to change the settings, and it did go full screen - but it looked like a pancake lol - everything was so stretched out.

I had no idea you were in Japan, but I'm so glad you're ok! I can't imagine how difficult things must be - it's so hard to watch what's happening on TV.

Thanks again - and good luck!

Still alive and well. Sort of. I have a stupid cold now. :P
Between the quakes and radiation here I am doing good. A little pissed at the hording of bread, gas, and other daily goods by people who don't need to be doing so. But it could be worse and thankfully it isn't.

Will try to get you squared away soon.

There's no rush - it's just a game after all lol!

I'm surprised to hear about the hoarding. There is one amazing thing though - as far as we've heard there has been absolutely no looting or violence!

Keep well,

Karen :)

Hi All!

It's been a while but I was finally able to play SOZ, but to be honest I wan't very impressed. It was intersting, but I think the OC and Motb were better by far.

I have, however, been hearing really nice things about Mysteries of Westgate. Has anybody been able to get it to play on a Mac? If so, are the files available anywhere?

Thanks,

Karen :)

I have instructions on which files to copy over from a Bootcamp partition posted here.

There is a thread on the NWN2 Mac forum about installing directly from the exe here.

Has anyone tried to get this working from the Steam Platinum download? Is it possible to extract all the necessary files from there? It's an easy way to get the disc codes but I'm wondering if I will still need to get all the data files some other way. I don't even have my original install discs anymore so getting the base game will be a bit of work.

@sathor,

I've posted instructions on installing MotB, SoZ, and MoW from a Windows installed source (such as a Bootcamp partition) below. I think it should work using a Windows Steam install as the source as well.

Here is a repost of the instructions for installing MotB, SoZ, and MoW on a Mac using as a source a Bootcamp partition with the Windows versions installed on it. I think this should also work when using a windows Steam install as the source although the Steam folders are named differently.

Instructions for getting MotB and SoZ and MoW to work on Mac (updated by B Bellina June 4, 2011)

Original threads:
<http://nwn2forums.bi...2567&forum=139>
<http://nwn2forums.bi...orum=139&sp=15>
<http://nwn2forums.bi...orum=139&sp=60>

Requires:
- Standard Mac NWN2 OC installation with 1.23 patch <http://support.aspyr...article/000602>
- Bootcamp or VM installation of MotB and SoZ and MoW accessible from Mac OS X

Using a Steam Windows install as the source:
I think this should also work when using a Windows Steam install as the source although the Steam folders are named differently.
References to "C:\\Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Night 2\\Campaigns\\Neverwinter Nights 2 Campaign\\" and its subfolders would on Steam be folder "C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\neverwinter nights 2\\Campaigns\\Neverwinter Nights 2 Campaign\\" and its subfolders.
The Modules folder for Steam is "C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\neverwinter nights 2\\Modules".

Important Note:
The NWN2 OC CD will still be required to be in the drive in order to play, even though it is not required when playing on Windows.

(MotB and SoZ instructions adapted from Rhistin's instructions)

Step one: don't get lost with the two Data folders
The Mac-side, holds a (first) Data folder, containing a (second) Data folder. For clarity, I keep on adding (first) and (second) throughout these instructions.

Step two: File copying from the PC-side to the Mac-side.

Copy both Ambient_X1 and Ambient_X2 folders to the (first) Data Folder.
Copy both Neverwinter Nights 2 Campaign_X1 and Neverwinter Nights 2 Campaign_X1 folders to the Campaigns folder in the (first) Data folder.
Copy the following from/to the (second) Data folder:
- 2DA_X1.zip
- 2DA_X2.zip
- Actors_v103x1.zip

Thanks for the instructions. Haven't had a chance to try it yet because I'm working on getting the base game installed and working for me. I own 3 copies of this game: the mac copy I bought several years ago (and have apparently lost), a copy I got with a video card I bought, and now the copy off of steam. Despite all this, I am unable to get it installed on my machine. I'm pretty annoyed with the way Aspyr has supported this, to say the least.

I actually have it installed now, but cannot start the game due to the CD requirement. Putting a PC version of the game into my drive does not work. I'm gonna try some other things but I'm not real hopeful...

Got it working! For those interested, there is a no_cd crack for the Mac floating around on the interwebs. I won't say anymore cause I don't know to what extent we're allowed to talk about that kind of thing on this board, but it exists and it works. Gonna follow Kaldor's instructions now and see what I can do about getting the expansions to work.

Used my PC cd-key to activate the game and it worked just fine.  I am still skeptical about the whole steam thing... it doesn't give you cd-keys of any kind, they must be baked into a data file somewhere, so I may have to do some digging.  I definitely can't recommend buying the steam copy to anyone on a mac.  So far it's been worthless.

Thwarted... the steam copy of the game does not come with cd-keys. It comes with a NWN2KeyWriter.exe. Obviously I can't run this on the mac side. It appears that this was a wasted $20. I'm going to have to get the keys some other way.

Edit: gonna try running it under bootcamp and see if it generates the traditional ini file.

Edit2: This was way easier than I thought.  You go to your steam account, go to NWN2, and choose cd key, and it just shows them to you.  Yay steam.  Got everything working now, afaik.

Back again. Turns out my no-cd crack was for version 1.12 and while I could update to 1.23, the game continues to think it is 1.12, which makes it impossible to play the game online due to version mismatch. I guess I will go buy a 4th copy of this game so that I can actually play it. Hopefully I will not have to give Aspyr any of my money, since as far as I can tell they dropped the ball on this one in a hundred different ways.

edit: problem would be solved if my game would recognize the pc dvd, which I have and I have in my dvd drive.  Is there any way to trick it and make it realize that this is a nwn2 dvd in the drive?

After quite a bit of time searching, I found a no-cd crack for 1.23. Would it be permissible to post a link to it? We already have links for downloading data files in this post, and given the current state of this product for mac I think a lot of people would be interested in this. You still can't quite just use the steam resources to play - you need an original mac install for the base game.

I wouldn't post that link nor info unless it is stated openware. Since Aspyr have nothing else to gain here. We won't see an official no-cd patch like the PC has.

While it would be very helpful we cannot allow it to be posted here.

I know this is an old thread, but I was hoping someone out there could help me.  I was able to use the Europa installation fine, MotB was working great, until i got the Death God's Vault.  I am getting no objects showing up in there at all, but the trigger for the dialogue with the party member is being triggered.  I can not even leave the area and come back as the door object is not showing up either.

I just have the MotB expansion, and I have an installation on BootCamp if there are any files I can drag over from there to get this working.

Really hope someone can help, as I was enjoying the game a ton before this happened.

The Bootcamp nVidia drivers have problems with that area and some of the other ones late in the game. You may have to update your drivers.

The funny thing is, I was able to transfer the save over to Bootcamp, play the game in it and grab the one thing I needed, then get the save back to my the mac version with no issues.

I just updated the nVidia drivers on the Mac side, but still no changes. I am running around chapter 2 right now with no problems, but am dreading about what to do when I have to go back to the vault. I guess I can finnish it off in Bootcamp, but I really want to avoid that if I can.

I have not had much driver experience before, so wondering about what to try next.

The Windows nVidia drivers are different than the Mac drivers so you get a different visual experience. For some reason certain areas in MotB are very sensitive to the drivers. The Vault being one of those areas. There were only a few areas that I had problems with.

I managed to finnish the game tonight. No matter what I did, that Vault of the Death God issue still kept happening, so I did have to run through there in Boot Camp. That being said, that was the only part I had issues with, and fortunately it was a really small area too. I ran through it pretty quickly and was able to complete everything on my Mac after.

 I can confirm that I was able to use the latest CrossOver Games WINE emulator to run the windows version of NWN Diamond.  It ran as well as it did for me under windows.

Did you change the rate of the screen when you were in the vault? I know I had to that to get everything to show up.
