Which of these 2 books looks more like the "Song of Ice and Fire" in comparisment? SoT was more detailed and darker, while WoT had a deeper story with a lot of suprising moments.

They're okay. Great a decade ago when the first book came out, but dark fantasy has moved on and George RR Martin has apparently forgotten how to write.Brian The Grey wrote...
In case you never heard of George RR Martin, Bioware admits his work influenced DAO. Fantastic novels indeed.

I second this. Perhaps I've grown as a reader but his writing surely hasn't.

Silence Blasphemer!
Seriously though, the only dark fantasy books that even come close are Bakker's Prince of Nothing series. And the next book will come out in 2010. No, really, it will. Why are you laughing at me...

I'm not saying it's needed to have these things, or that I like it more than other things, but in a setting where someone's life isn't worth much unless you're a member of the elite (royalty), it's natural that it happens. I hate when authors avoid mature elements when they're a natural part of the setting (like a viking book without killing and raping of nuns).
I don't expect Dragon Age to be quite as mature as A Song of Ice and Fire, but I think it will be somewhat in the same spirit.

He's gotten a lot of writing into 'A Dance with Dragons' now. As of now, it's actually longer than 'A Game of Thrones'!Kranis wrote...
Great books, sadly, it's hard to reccomend this series because I don't think he will ever manage to finish it. I invested too much into reading this and he's still far away from ending it. I think he should make the final book "A Dance with Dragons". He's just getting too old =(.

Well, in ASOIF there is the Night Watch which is very much like DAO's Grey Wardens.akcorr wrote...
It looks like it's heavy on politics between the kingdoms....Does this series have sword and sorcery type stuff to go along with it?
The Night Watch is an infamous, misunderstood brotherhood that defends the realm from "the others" (the blight)
There is magic, but it's more based in alchemy.
etc ...

Agreed. He seems to spend his time fiddling with anthologies, his mini collection, constantly going to signings all over the world and blathering on about football.
He is gonna pull a Jordan and kick the bucket befor he finishes. He doesnt look to be in the best of health.
