Maybe a race of awakened shrieks would be considered "dark elves."

But we already have orcs!

You know, or goblins. Or whatever.

I woud definitely be more behind this than them adding Drow. . .

It really is fine the way it is as far as different races go in my opinion, but to me if they did add another race such as Drow if I didn't have the  chance to play as such (like in Origins) I probably wouldn't be all to thrilled about it.

What i hate most is the likely-hood that they will be added later. I mean, the fact that we havn't even heard of them is significant to the point that there are not even popular legends about these theoretical Drow...but sure enough, come DA2 or some future DA, another race or type of race (half-oger, half-elf, etc.) will spontaneously appear out of nowhere.

...they already did it with ME2 (Vorcha, Drell, etc.) and they're planning it for ME3 (given Bazaar questions)...it's a rareity but sometimes i really do hate Bioware's 'drawing board'.

Yeah. Maybe make their entire culture centered on the use of blood or something. (kinda like the Warhammer Fantasy's Khaine worshipers )

I'm kinda wondering: don't the Qunari already fill a role similar to that of the Drow? I mean, appearances aside (kinda, close, tho', right? dark skin, pointy ears, not sure about eye color...so they're a little taller. small detail :P ), they're 'outsiders' w/ their own culture who are invading 'civilization as we know it'.

DA is an so so original world with unoriginal character and races.

Could be better, but its all we got. Like democracy.

So, in a galaxy of space fairing races stretched over hundreds of thousands of light years it bothers you that they introduced a new race in the second game?  You know, there are tribes and peoples, hell probably even small nations I've never heard of in our own world - now expand that to an entire Galaxy.  I think it would be more ludicrous not to run into a new race from time to time.

As for the DA series, considering we only know a relatively small amount about the world outside of Ferelden I do not doubt it is possible we'll bump into another race at some point - particularly if said race doesn't travel a great deal or is limited to another end of the continent.  (midieval Europeans didn't have a lot of interaction with China or Japan, for example)  I do doubt, however, that we'll see Drow - and if for some unfanthomable reason they do include a "dark elf" race of some sort, I have faith they'll put a new spin on it they way they did with Dwarves and Elves.
