"they criticize Origins for looking too much like Lord of the Rings, so now they just mimic 300, Conan and He-Man with a samurai twist? It doesn't look terrible, it just looks absolutely nothing like the world they created in Origins. Visual consistency is not a bad thing..."

if you ask me i prefer lord of the rings than some action cartoon bulsh-it

i sew the reamek of the dark spewn what an ugly graphics its nice for kids under 17...not for a squel

I don't understand why so many people are up in arms over graphics in DA2 when DA:O was not known for it's graphics in the first place.

The problem is that BioWare is making the graphics a major marketing point for DA2. I didn't have a problem with them in DAO, but I'm less than impressed with the art style and technical side of the graphics thus far in DA2.

But in all fairness, its really early on and the Comic Con people seem to agree that it looks good in motion.

Firstly, if you want to be taken seriously, use grammar.  Just a bit of...friendly...advice.

Secondly, I found the new art style to relatively unique and ultimately a nice change from a generic fantasy setting.  Visual consistency?  Well, the game is in a new setting, so that gives BioWare an excuse to change whatever they want to.  Besides, if they made every facet of the game exactly as it was in Origins, nothing would be improved.

Thirdly, that could've been a new and as-of-yet unseen type of darkspawn, which could be a nice change from Origins' Genlocks and Hurlocks, and it's an early build, so they might look entirely different later.

I've seen early pics from other Bioware games and they certainly looked terrible, I'm sure that DA2 just needs a little more work. Render the characters, make the animations, then make it look pretty.

Stylized art is just not manly enough, apparently. Playing a game that doesn't strive towards photorealism is threatening to people's self-image.

So the only mature fantasy art style is the one that's been used more than any other?

*snicker*  Yes, color is not manly!  In order to be manlier, the art must be darker!  And browner!  And the textures must be shinier and bumpier!

that is not the problem, the real problem is I and others suspect that the "spiky" design is tailor made for consoles so they have to render less polygons, thus screwing high end pc users like me

Lets all remember, that if they want to make an impression at Comi Con, it won't be with inventory management or character development, it will be with the most eye-popping combat the game has to offer.

It doesn't necessarily represent the game as a whole.

So you say, but the OP is clearly motivated by other concerns.

Because USUALLY if not ALL THE TIME the graphics of the sequel to a game is generally better. Take Starcraft for instance, Starcraft original and Starcraft: Brood War wasn't known for graphics but still Blizzard had the sense to update the graphics for Starcraft 2. Whereas DA:O the graphics so far are surperior to DA2's

Is it that you can't read english, or that you just skimmed my post then posted an argument?  I said that BioWare wanted to improve the art style, not the graphics.  Whether or not the character models have infinity-and-one triangles or not, their style will be different.  And in BioWare's opinion, better.

And...lolwut?  Final Fantasy?  Which one?  X?  XII?  They are, for the most part, different, and none are like Dragon Age 2.
