No, the Warden (and Hawke) did not flee, they just fought backwards.

And don't forget bethany is a mage, potentially an apostate. I certainly wouldn't join the army if I needed to hide my sister from the authorities.desmod wrote...
Not talking about the game. I am talking about people who call him a coward for running when he could not do anything. Chances are he would not have been able to join any of the armies because he is a commoner. Beside would you really want some random npc stealing your thunder by slaughtering legions of darkspawn?
And weren't there like a dozen templars in lothering? Maybe he fled when they arrived instead of when the blight got there.

Well, I remember a templar saying "If you're looking for a safehouse there's none to be found" and generally suggesting that situation is hopeless.desmod wrote...
I also remember hearing about the templars say something about evacuating the town. So not as many people stayed as we would think.
I believe however that most people died there... A couple of templars couldn't organize evacuation...

On topic, I think what someone said above me is a good point, we don't know how old Hawke was when he ran from Lothering, and he may have not even have been trained to fight in any way at all at that time.

Maybe Hawke decided to head north until it became south and ambush the horde from the rear.
It'll never see that coming.
Man, the idiotic responses you could give Sten were so great. I hope we get the same amount of snarky responses in DA2.

I don't think much writing finesse is even needed. If he just said "The Blight is coming here? Holy sh*t, let's get out of here," that wouldn't be cowardly. It would be sane.
Really, in this thread fifty gazillion different reasons were given that made Hawke a wise man/woman and not a coward. And all of them were valid.
From now on, I shall dismiss all naysayers as irrational. At least until the next shoddy preview gives them enough (mis)information to whine about.

Apparently, if they didn't come back and kill the *exact* individual ****s that would have taken them and shot them/worked them to death/gassed them/failed to kill them but not by much had they stayed, yes.
edit: oh hey, they ce****ed natsy!

you fled the destruction of your home in Jade Empire
you are always being hunted and you're pretty much fleeing from something in a Bioware game what is the difference?

Don't be ridiculous. I will repeat, however, that barging into every thread to drag it off-topic just because you have a beef not even related to the thread will get you kicked out of these forums. You are a guest on our forums just as you would be a guest in any store you might wander into in your travels-- and rude behavior here will have the same result as rude behavior there.
o dude, you just got owned Kordaris.
Props to the devs, hope the game is as great as the first!

perhaps the responses also shows how people are very much fed up with having to flee their home in nearly every single RPG as it gets invaded/destroyed
and Taris wasn't the home of the character in K1
