Hi folks... just whipped up this little piece of fan-art, since I had some time on My hands.
Had seen someone else have a go at this by modifying the original Krogan male concept art, but I didn't think they had the right idea.

http://www.foundatio...92&d=1280019180

I figured that a Krogan female would spend their entire adult lives simply breeding
(Since it is mentioned that Krogan have an exceptionally high
reproductive rate.)
Since the male Krogan possess 4 testicles, I would imagine the females each have at least two uteruses (somethign that occasioanlly happens in humans actually!!!)

The high birth rate is offset by the introduced genophage which causes
only 1 Krogan child in 1000 to be born alive, the rest are still born - hence they adorne their bodies with superstitious markings and symbols ecourage healthy births.
As such the Krogan females eat a lot and carry a lot of body fat inorder to support not just themselves, but also the numerous offspring they are pregnant with.

Females that produce live offspring on a more regular basis are highly
prized, putting them in a position of unprecidented power in the Krogan
clan hierarchy.

Of course I'm sure the artists at Bioware have their own idea of what the Krogan females are like, just as do you.

Now if only there is a mission in Mass Effect 3 that allows Shephard to visit the female Krogans and get offered some good times with them!!! (Or would that end is Mission Critical Failure? lol)

I really like the body shape you gave her, makes sense in my head.
Only thing I'd quibble with is the idea that an adult female would naturally sped her entire adult life breeding. We hear tales of female warlords in ME1 before the genophage hit really hard. I'd be more inclined to believe krogan would have naturally had a breeding cycle during which they'd have a clutch of a large number of children but otherwise being free to do what Krogan do best.
But since the genophage that's changed to focusing on breeding to try and make up lost numbers.
The only thing that I still puzzle over in how Krogan work is why there are so many males and what percentage of a clutch would be male. If Krogan were non-predatory in their past (I can't remember where I first heard it but their wide set eyes and flat teeth suggest this) and group animals it would make sense that there would be more females to males. I'm left wondering if the female camps are just huge or if their evolution moving up to being the dominant species on their planet changed this somehow to being more even.

Thanks for the comment ReiSilver.

I'm sure the Krogan female are tough as nails and totally capable in combat, but I think since the genophage they've sorta reprioritized - since every female death will cut into Krogan population growth.

Just remember - she's attractive to Krogan's NOT to humans - unless you swing that way!

(Pacifen - how do you embed the image in the post? I can;t seem to find any options for it?)

The code is [*img]url[*/img] without the *. It'll resize larger images, so for those, I do [*url=http://urlblahblah][*img]url[*/img][*/url] so people can click those for the original image.

ETA: Man, that explanation made sense when I was typing it, but right now it just looks like a lot of [ ][ ][ ][ ]. So this was the image for Okeer would look like:

Well, if you kill the thresher maw, there is that one outstanding breeding request for Shepard...

Had any thoughts about some of the other aliens of Mass Effect? I like your style, it really delves deep into what draws the eye to the otherwordly nature, of, well, aliens.

I always figured the salarian females would have the most sexual dimorphism of all the aliens we've seen. The classic larger female to tiny male.

I like it. The Kroganess in that image has a sort of motherly feel about her. I really hope Bioware takes some pointers from this picture and puts it into their design for female Krogan's in ME3. Excellent job, your work is to be commended. :)

Thanks Golden-Rose!

Any ideas for female Turians or Salarians? (Or any other aliens - apart from the Quarians - they get enough love as it is! lol)

I have the hardest time thinking what a female Turian might look like. I've seen other people's impressions, making the female slightly shorter with maybe a less severe edge to the facial plates. Or even designing the chest plates to give the illusion of a female form to human eyes. I once had the idea that the female would actually have a fringe that grows further back and curved downward almost like lengthy hair. Whatever I think about, it always has to do with exaggerating those various plates.

Doesn't Garrus say if (female) Sheppard was Turian he'd be complimenting her on her fringe or her waist?

Yep. Though there was that Turian at the bachelor party on Illium who said the Asari head was very much like a Turian fringe, so maybe the Turian female's fringe doesn't grow all that long. Wonder how "your waist is very supportive" translates into Turian? :P

I figured it was because Turian female waists are very slender... so in comparison Shepard's is "supportive"... lol

OK, started to give the female Turian a go... any other details you reckon would differentiate male & female Turians?

I've always wondered how large female krogan are compared to male krogan. They might actually be larger than the males.

Well, until the Bioware team produce evidence to the contrary, I think that the males are on average larger/taller in the upper body because of their pronounced "humps" but the females are larger in the belly and thigh area (though whole being pregnant with multiple offspring and having to support the increased body weight).

I like the piece monsoontide. However I am also assuming there would be a large proportion of sterile female Krogan (Mordin makes mention of it when you come across the dead female in one of the labs during his loyalty mission).
