Storywise should be about the same.

We already know that storywise the game will be a step back from DA1.

WHo is we?
I disagree with your statement sir.B)

The poll is not a good one.  I'm sure there are many who looked at it, like me, and didn't see an option that fit them at all.

For the poorly worded, extremely unscientifc, not representive poll - DA2 wins.

That's as useful as the guys on the creative team saying, "We made it so we like it the way it is."

Either way, it's absolutely silly to have a discussion on Boycotting DA2 with the handfull of articles, information we have on the game.

It may not even be a bad game, but still its not the game many RPG-Fans want, it gets just another Action-RPG. Its kind of sad how everything in the gaming-industry is forcing genres to a simplified casual-genre that is supposed to have the biggest possible audience while giving a crap for fans of a specific genre.

Ah, my favourite part of the debate. There is only one true and right definition of the RPG, you have special knowledge of it, and those of us who disagree are obviously wrong and not even fans of the genre.

Yup, there's absolute no way someone might that reactivity in a game is more important than variable background that does not impact the story, or that VO allows for more dynamic interaction. Nope, an RPG must be about the special mental experience of the player and the silent PC, and it absolutely can't be about having a living world that reacts to a variable personality the character creates. Nope, not at all.

I'm just a Mod, like Seagloom and the others, we're not BioWare employees. Information on this game has been under a big lock and key

So why don't you go ahead and make your own poll, covering all the different viewpoints, seeing as you're so unbiased! Posted Image

I wish they would have just waited and shown the finished item, to be honest. I know they're trying to build hype like any developer would, but still....<_<

It must take balls of crystal to argue so aggressively on the internets... :P

it seems like the there are some people out there that fear change. The vocal minority would rather have us keep playing the same game every sequel. Pick your origin, play the first couple starting areas, 4 places to go to in a random order, final area. Yawn

Dear gods, does this thread even exist? Because this sounds like a huge pouting fit. People are, of course, in their right to be angry about the changes made, but what it seems to me is that people are angry not with the specific made changes, but because there were changes at all. Dragon Age: Origins was a brilliant example of an old-school RPG turned modern and Dragon Age 2 will be a different game, because that's how it goes. We don't want things to stall, do we? I have faith that the same team who brought us so many brilliant games will deliver another.

And I am preety sure that 99% of the people who are "boycotting" the game and whining about it are going to end up playing it and enjoying it.

I tried making a more diverse, less biased poll to hopefully get a more accurate (but far from scientifically worthwhile) gauge of how the sentiment is about DA2 at this early stage:

http://social.biowar...769/polls/8500/

Just to be clear, I'm definitely not advocating a boycott (I think boycotting a game because it isn't going to be fun for you is silly - heck, I'd never again touch a GTA game and can't fathom allowing a copy of Manhunt into my home, but I'd still not boycott them as that's just ridiculous) - I'm just trying to help see if more people like what appears to be the new direction or not, and giving enough range for that to be meaningful.

I never claimed to be unbiased - I was doing my share of whining earlier.
But while you wrote that I was in the process of creating my own poll, yes.

The thread doesn't exist as a "Who's in for boycotting? You too? YEEEEAAAAAAHHH!" type thing--which is what I thought when I read the title. The poll is measuring people who (despite their loud, loud protests) won't buy the game vs those who will. I hope it has been enlightening to said "boycotters". It's not the most scientific poll, and damn is it early to tell, but it does serve a purpose. The enlightening "neener, neener, neener!" one.

Ooh. That wall of text...well, I voted. Oh, and would another thread be allowed, so people know this new poll exists?

I believe that there are a lot of gamers that like routine. They like things playing the same way and they just get used to it and when something deviates there will be a minority that gets upset about it
