I thank you dramatic "SHUN BIOWARE!" folks for making my mornings very exciting. And if you are in the chicago area, please do join me during my morning routine boycotting Bioware's DA2. I start dancing at 7:30 AM. Thanks!

I expect YouTube coverage, missy.

Ah remember when the forums were fun like this, before all the crabby teenagers came...

I don't like the poll options really because they are all negative apart from ' i like what i've seen and will buy it' . But we havent seen anything , my answer would be ' too early to say but bioware are brilliant so i'll buy it'.

Only stupid angry people will not buy a game based on the information already available.

I don't really see how one can already form a buy decision on DA2, let alone decide whether to boycott it.

First of all, not buying something because you don't like it does not a boycott make. Not buying a company's product(s) despite being interested in it because you don't agree with particular decision(s) of that company is a boycott.

For example, I boycott Ubisoft because of their vile anti-second-hand market ploy draconic anti-piracy software.

Also definitely ME2 DLC ('though I might make an exception for the Liara DLC if it's really, really, really good 'cause the core game is seriously lacking in the Liara department), possibly ME3, most likely other future ME games and movies, and maybe even ME books and comics.
As for reasons: We've been lied to (and worse) re ME2 so extensively... I'll just say that I can't think of anything nice to say about Casey Hudson in particular other than his looking great and leave it at that. And the ME2 DLC specifically because I had to pay for the last of the "up to a dozen"(!) teammates. 'Twas the straw that broke the camel's back.

And I boycott the DA comic because of its author's views. ('Though at least judging from the preview of #01 it actually isn't all that good either.)

Speaking of comics, that's actually quite a muddy field when it comes to what is a boycott and what not IMHO.

Anyway, at the end of the day not buying is not buying and since you don't buy the same game every week or so (in contrast to consumable goods) the publisher end won't be able to tell the difference between you not being interested in a game and you being appalled at tangential stuff. Still, boycott is a strong word, so don't throw it around like adolescents throw around vulgarities.

Now, speaking of DA2:
Mediterranean feel and impressive architecture = positive.
Spiky armor and inconsistent darkspawn look = negative. Especially since the devs themselves used to make fun of the former in other fantasy IPs. I'd like a JE2 with better, more responsive combat, not a DA2 that looks halfway like JE without slanted eyes.
All the rest: of course I would've loved to be an elf or a dwarf again, but what little we know by itself actually doesn't sound bad and I trust the DA (writing) team. People really need to calm down. And BioWare really need to reveal some substantial information, like yesterday.

Don't scare them away!!

When my Epic Hawke does her victory pose in the epilogue, with her shirt ripped open and large (double handed of course) great sword thrust up in the air, with a beacon shining up from it in an epic manner hammering the very heavens into rapturous submission, I'll need  male teenagers to be sprawled on the rocky floor, in various stages of undress caressing my epic thighs.

I am taking applications now. Please include pictures in your applications.

That could be the single most convoluted sexual metaphor I've ever read. Too bad I've left my teenage years far behind.

I honestly don't know yet. Ball is still in the air, because it seems the PC version will just be another addendum to the story, even if it sounds balls-out weird that they are making two separate games on the same story for different platforms.

I won't know whether I am buying till I hear more. Even if I choose not to, I don't think it would qualify as boycotting. It is my kind of game or it's not.

Gotta love these posts. You boycotters do know that they make these games for people to buy, play, and hopefully love. It's there creation they can make it however they want. Stop your stupid posts of boycotting cause no one cares. If everyone really hates the game it will show in the sales won't it? I for one am giving it a chance. Cause I mean why the hell not? Don't know how it is until you play it.

I'll base it on the ratings from my local sites and see how it plays out depending on if the game sales well or not. I'm not going to judge it by just hating it. I'm going to give it a chance, but don't expect me to buy it right away. Unless its one of two games. ME or JE. Holla!

I buy/not buy a game after I have seen what professional reviewers say. That goes with any game (unless cover says Piranha Bytes, that name makes me blind believer). Professionals do not have emotions all mixed up in their reviews (or so I trust), and they are not fanboys or haters. I want to know how game works, what are the elements and all the technical stuff. Then I might look some screens and trailers and if I like what I see I buy. Gaming community or forums have zero effect in me. I'm immune.

Huh. Especially the game reviewers, web sites and magazines, depend very much on the very same companies whose products they are supposed to rate.

Besides, I don't know what things are important to you in a game. If it's shiny graphics and lots of action, then you can take the reviews at face value. But if your preferences lie elsewhere, for example the features BioWare used to excel in, then many reviews are of little significance these days.

Comments from common players are often of more value, because they usually have no own horse in the race, and just write down their opinion.

In KOTOR you couldn't choose your background the only thing u could choose was your class, and it won over 40 Game of the Year Awards.... so people complaining about DA2 should look at that alone.

Okay. To be absolutely fair and to play the Devil's Advocate, your background in KotOR (both of them) was extremely important to the story. The game wouldn't have existed if you weren't amnesiac Revan or the Jedi Exile.

Just saying...

As Dr. Johnson would say, boycotting a game is like putting wheels on a tomato. Time consuming and completely unecessary.

I think this can be a good game, more like Mass Effect, it still wont fill the shoes of BG that DAO failed to fill though so it's not going to be that game you'll go back to over and over ten years down the road. I expect it to be good, maybe worth replaying if they flesh out the class choices a bit but in two years time I wont be thinking about it, it's not going to be an epic RPG.

Yes. Because 'evolving' and 'turning into a completely different kind of game' mean exactly the same thing.

But to some people they feel it isn't turning into a completely different kind of game, because that is a matter of perspective.

'evolving' doesn't count if it makes the game worse
