I will not buy this game when it comes out, maybe second hand. DA2 doesn't seem to have any of that old Bioware appeal that I used to love back in Baldur's Gate era. I'm really disappointed of the direction Bioware has gone with this game and if there would be a real boycott movement against this game, I would probably take part.

So you haven't seen any of the demos I take it or listened to what the devs said.

I have probably seen most of them. Why?

Combat is better not just action wise but is more tactical as well despite the faster pace.
Character interaction is deeper and more complex.
OK you probably dislike the VO and paraphrases but the other improvements should more than make up for it.

I just expressed my opinion. It's not just the combat, also the dialogue system and character creation sucks. Has anything really improved in comparison to DAO? And I don't consider fast paced combat an improvement.

I second that.

I won't buy DAO2 either. Too many restrictions and changes from the first part IMHO.

Playing only a human in ME style (about being able to talk, etc, just looks like adapting the ME engine to DA): fail
Isabella and Anders as companions: utter fail
fighting system looks like taken from LoK with all it's swoops, jumps and whatnot: fail

Aside from that: I don't care about the new companions. I don't care about playing Hawke instead of a Warden.

I hoped for a proper continuation like how it was done with Mass Effect: same Shepard, same storyline (only two years later). I hoped for something like this for DAO as well. It's not happening so I'm not buying. It's that simple.

I voted I will buy it because no boycot will change how they make games.

I dislike how they are removing things out of the first game

I really do not like not being about to outfit my companions like I did in DAO

I do not like how it is shorter then Origins

I do not like a lot of things but they will learn just like they learned from Me 1 to Me 2

DA3 will be a return to the core RPG format

Is there any evidence that the story or the dialoque is going to be deeper other than the developer's word? Also the changes in strategy department seem pretty cosmetic to me.

So you just ignore the reasons stated by the devs and the unstated but obvious reasons why they are doing it.

The new character interaction system is inherently more complex.

Oh my god... NO! why the H would i be on the forums if i would, this is one of the most childish things i have ever seen, you are entitled to yout opions(not just OP) but atleast express them in a costructive way that is helpfull for the developers so they can make the best game possible, and honestly if you agree to this you should be ashamed, if you don't buy the game because it is not for you fine, thats your opinion, but don't encourage a boycott simply because you can't get your way(just by making this thread you are encouraging and condoning it)

How is ME style interaction more complex than the one in DAO? ME style interaction only serves console players and for them it might be an improvement but for PC gamers it just another disappointment.

I believe that stating the games flaws is constructive feedpack. And I don't mean to troll here, I'm interested in other peoples opinions now that the game is soon to be released.

meh, most of these boycotters later buy the game and realize its pretty good atleast, so stop whining. and that poll is way too old, my view on DA2 has changed since the time that poll was made. make a new one, and then you will see the actual thoughts of the people.

You are absolutely right, I should have created a new thread.

Just to answer the OP's question :

Most of the news and directions of the game have been, for me, a total /facepalm. I've been steadily LESS and LESS thrilled by what has been unveiled, to the point that I often even forget there will be a DA2.

Still, the only boycott I pledge are about unethical decisions - like using only abusive copy-protection, or ripping-off and the like.

DAO campaign was not always to my taste either, and despite its numerous flaws, I still liked it and bought it, so even though I'm extremely wary about DA2, I'll keep my mind open - though critical - and will see if it deserves to be bought in the end;

In other words : no, I don't plan to boycott, but yes I plan to only buy it if it deserves it. Like for all games.

only if you state that opinion as fact and repeat in a crude and condescending tone of speech
throughout multiple threads and posting them every so often.

otherwise, no you're good. keep criticizing in a polite neutral way.^_^

Don't try to lump us PC gamers into being disappointed about the ME style interaction.  I'm one of those PC gamers and I prefer the ME style.  If anything you are one of those hardcore oldschool gamers that prefer the old style of RPG storytelling with the silent PC.

I really don't like the idea of a voiced human PC, but I'm not going to 'boycott' the game, I just won't be creaming myself and pre-ordering it or anything. I'll play the demo and decide whether to get it or not after that.

Usually games where the PC is voiced are more restricted than the ones that have a silent one. In DA2 we have to play a human character because of this fact. I would rather have the option to play multiple races than have my character voiced. This is of course a matter of opinion. You are probably right about some PC gamers liking the Mass Effect dialoque system over the one in DAO, although I don't know anyone who does.
